Rather than bump to the older thread, I thought I'd just post a quick update. Goth and I have been working on this for my 348ts SS. (Well, mostly gothspeed) All the prep work has been done and we are waiting for a nice day for installation. Then it's off to the dyno and Joe's for that well deserved breakfast that FBB will be funding. We are confident of gains, but we will not speculate as to numbers. Essentially, the TBs have been bored out abit and the inside of the plenum and runners have been, shall we say, "optimized" for air flow. Spacers are made for the TBs (they need to move outboard a smidge) and between the upper and lower halves of the plenum. We are rustling up the necessary fasteners since the spacers make the OEM stuff obsolete. That's it in a nutshell. There's a whole lot more, but we will get into the details later. I have ordered new fuel filters so I can fit all the lower portion pieces with larger diameter replacements (per group77racing's instructions). This will provide better fuel delivery. Again, we are trying to do this stepwise to test the limits of the stock system. We figure we will need upgraded injectors at some point, but for now we are staying stock. More later.
Great update. The 348 has to be the most "hot-roddable" Ferrari, and the Brotherhood the most involved of tifosi!
Its looking good..............reeeeal good..... !!!! I have gathered the new stainless cap screws yesterday!!! As Vince mentioned we only need a good day for installation (its been raining buckets lately). We have been speculating that if the gains are not stellar with only intake mods...... it would be because the exhaust is too restrictive. We are working on a new 348 high-flow exhaust... .................possibly with dual bypass . The main reason for 'bypass' would be to wake the neighbors at WOT.... as the exhaust will flow plenty even without 'bypass'. Pictures and obligatory dyno numbers for "stage one mods" (intake only ).............................are within days !!!
Well............. .................... within 100 "days".............. yeah,.......... thats a safe bet..............
Dag-on-it!!!! How come you suckers don't ever call me to let me know when the wrenches are gonna get turned?! But it has been raining like mad here, so I'll forgive you.
Ernie, dude, this is how we're doing it... If we don't get impatient and want to just drop the parts in, goth and I will just do it. But, if we're gonna make a Brotherhood event of it, weather permitting, all are invited if not to wrench, then to just stand around and make sure all the parts get into the car. Stay tuned. I can taste that Joe's breakfast now...
Taste?! You don't even know! I'm making a 7 course meal for your 348. Yes, I'm going to have a wonderful surprise for you...
Sounds good!!! ............. what are you running for exhaust ND?? You might like what we are working on.......
That would be a good idea except............... I don't cook............ I eat everything raw........ muhahahahhhahaaaa................................
Oh yeah, baby. Dust off your wallet and clean out the moths cuz yousa buying at Joe's! The whole set up is not too expensive as Ferrari mods go, but we're not really sure how to cut back on the project since we already did it. We could bolt one piece on at a time but that would get a bit complicated and we cannot impose on our dyno guy that much to use his shop for the whole day while we add and remove this and that for the tests. Nah, we'll just do the whole enchilada and see what gives.
Pick a day Vince, the parts are done !! I am willing to take off work for the install/dyno test endeavor... !!!!!! At our current pace, we will all have grandkids by the time we get dyno numbers....
I am committed only on Thursday, so whatever you want. Wife out of town through Saturday evening. All we need is the weather to cooperate. Let's see, we could do this tomorrow, run the test, post it and have breakfast on Sat AM with FBB. Ernie, Bruce, FBB how's your schedules? Let's make it a wrench party! Hey, we could install my Porterfield pads too. Oz, one more thing... Those fuel filters are coming this week and I wanted to head over to the speed shop for the mods parts.
How early?? I will contact our dyno guy for time slots... .... ................priorities man!!............... You don't need to stop better, until we have more horsepower..... ! I don't think we will need that for the stage one 'intake mods'...... though let me know as I don't want to take off work unless we are set to get the intake installed and tested.
