Group; Thanks Steve and the other F-Group members for your advice on the 116987 TR speed sensor replacement. To add to the previous comments: The nut size on the sensor body is 32mm. As stated you need to remove the oil filter when this is done along with the sensor you loose about 5 quarts of oil (have a big pan ready to catch the oil). Taking off the bottom cover plate (just forward of the oil filter) helps get the wrench in position. Works great now. Thanks, Jim
Is this the same connector that has been loosened in some cars to cause ... ahem... better resale value? I was going to look at this the next time I change the oil to see if anyone with pliers had been there before. Is the odometer/speedometer sealed in some way to tell if folks have played with it? Where the heck is this thing located, anyway?
91TR and bpu699 Yes, I was able to use a mm Wrench from Sears (Craftsman). It however, was not flat it did have some offset. W/O offset you'll have to create one like you mentioned. bpu699- Yes, if you disconnect this connector not only are you always at Zero mph, but the mileage counter is not functional either. This is something to check for on a TR if it has really low miles! But the connector is rubberized and you can pull it apart by hand. How to really check is I think not really possible? The connector is located by the oil filter (front of engine; section 32 of TR parts manual - gear box; item 32) and to the drivers side of the oil filter. Thanks, Jim Hilton
