I want my answer to be, yes but....

not a bunch of crazy ones. go to fullsizechevy.com to see the craziness that can result. I often see pages and pages of emoticons, their sigs are huge, their avatars are huge.... it makes for not-so-easy reading.

The purpose of emoticons is to allow you to communicate your facial expressions so that your comments are not mis-interpreted by the readers; often a joking comment is taken as insulting if they can't see that winking smile and realize you weren't serious.

In contrast, the examples you gave are more like all the OWNED pictures... they are intended to be a graphic way of insulting someone or making fun of someone. Not sure that it really contributes to the well-being of FerrariChat to be providing a collection of "insulticons" to make it even easier to be rude.

With that said, there are some emoticons that would be nice additions (like one for "ribbing"... typically one little circle guy jabbing the other with a stick); and then the forehead banging a brick wall is often useful. And of course thumbs down and thumbs up are staples; and the idea light bulb would be good, too.

Also, the existing "rolleyes" emoticon is lame... and the "stick tongue out in jest" emoticon looks like a lipstick grin or something.

But worse are the Post Icons... why two right arrows? Why a thumbs down but no thumbs up?

Awww, come on! Go with the flow. I bet Kitty wouldn't mind having a few extra emoticons to paw at.

    LOL!

A better improvement would be more text editing capability, such as on Tom Yang's board.

    www.tomyang.net

Maybe cut the censorship and allow bad language/personal insults (excluding threats) to appear as written. I've been seeing these threads on how Fchat is a dead/boring board; perhaps that would get things flying again.

NO! The last thing we need is a bunch of colorful cartoons jumping up and down. It's too bad that emoticons are necessary at all, but sometime they are. The good thing is that the ones here are monochromatic and easy on the eye. PLEASE DON'T CHANGE A THING!!!!!

    No.

No more cartoons, no animated avatars, no graphic sigs. I don't want this place looking like a high-school ricer board

I agree with the anti-dancing, jumping teeny-bopper sentiment, but what about replacing some of the lamer icons with a few culled from these vbulletin smilies?

    bandit:
    mad:
    beard:
    ninja:
    smoke:

IF it is decided to go forward with new smilies, they should be user selectable on or off, with default as off. (Sorry if someone said this before, I havn't read the thread)

Not Necessary. However, they would work in the off topic section - can they be limited towards one section?

    I voted NO.
I intentionally bought a hobby car (308GT4) with little or no electronics, no pollution control stuff, etc. because it confirms the basic beauty of simplicity. I would love FChat to keep its graphic simple lines, economy of extras etc as well.
