Hello, been lurking here for a few years as I have a 1995 F355 manual. I’m trying to swap my shift linkage adjustment to the “newer” 5.2 adjustment. But can’t seem to find the last part… #164386. I’ve written to quite a few salvage yards selling 355 parts on eBay but no luck yet. Looking at the part seems like it’s a pretty simple part. Does someone habe one and could send dimension to see if I can have it fabricated???

In what way is this part updated?
How is a 5.2 different from a 2.7? What are the advantages? Thanks

Looking at the 2.7 parts manual, it seems that the newer type offers easier adjustment. i.e. independent length and angle.

It looks like the 2.7 locking nuts (37&38) had to be adjusted simultaneously for rod length and rotation.

    Correct.
I have been thinking to do this update on mine but then I looked at all the parts required and decided against it for now. It is basically easier to get a nice adjustment with the updated version.

as far as I’ve been able to figure out you only need 2 parts and the 3 screws washers.
part #42, #49 in the first diagram. Only problem is part #49 is NLA….

That’s what I thought. But the shift rod is different. It has a updated part number. I assume as the length is changed with the updated shifter block.

One shift rod is 163518 and the new part for 5.2 motronic is 164392.

If you get the part 42, it seems quite simple to fabricate the disc for part 49 which should just follow the diameter of the circular section of the part 42. Then, machine the 3 slotted holes and weld-on a length of threaded rod. Does one side of the coupling have left thread?

One side of item 36 has a left-handed thread, and ... I cannot remember which side. If I had to guess, it's item 49 that is left handed thread. In a bind, I would modify the existing one to make it fit.
