I have recently had a deposit put on my immaculate 360 Modena. I absolutely love my car but want to get into something a little less prone to issues and something slightly newer

I am in two minds, and after some thoughts.

    2009 cali red/ cream 16 miles
    Or
2014 650s spider 3 miles blue and absolutely stunning

any suggestions from anyone who has driven or lived with both

With both cars you aren't getting anything more reliable than you're 360 unless you move the California to a later year. The 1st year of a car, especially one with so much new stuff for Ferrari, isn't the best idea and a McLaren isn't known for its reliability. With McLaren, It is hit or miss, you either get a perfect car or a lemon.

World of difference in performance between Cali(limited performance)and 650S(lots).Want reliability get a Toyota.
My understanding is that some early Calis had gearbox issues $$$$.
Macs can be prone to computer/electrical issues often solved by turning off and restarting.
    Neither are without potential issues.
For me get the 650S at least it is a fast ride to the shop.

Forgot to add the high cost of a top repair on the California should you be unfortunate enough to have the issue.
Best advice is drive them both and get what you like the most.
If you are looking at Macs drive a 570S. To me it was a more engaging car than the 650 and newer as well.

McLaren cars are crazy expensive to keep alive. The 360 is a Hyundai in comparison maintenance wise.

Gearbox leaks, PCV issues and suspension problems are common at ridiculous costs to repair. 15k for a shock for example.

Not sure what condition your wallet is in currently, but if you want to maintain its health I would suggest to bypass the McLaren brand. Never mind the fact they are kinda boring to drive..fast..oh crap yes..but zero "zing"

    16 miles? 3 miles?
were the cars kept in a box for the past 7 to 12 years?

Suspension issues are only for the super series Macs with the most frequent issue being accumulators which is not too costly. The sport series have a conventional suspension which is not complex.
Macs are expensive to maintain but so is Ferrari.

As long as you don't live too far from a McLaren dealer, get the 650.
