    Hello Everyone,

As always, I really appreciate the support and advice in regards to my Testarossa questions to date.

I am wondering if anyone had ever changed only the 6.5" speakers lower driver and passenger side ?

Do you need a new amp for modern speakers?

I was planning on keeping the oem tape deck still, but the original speakers are so bad.

    thanks so much

Interesting time to ask this question. I have the speakers out of my 1991 TR right now. This car had supposedly upgraded speakers installed when it was brand new. with supposedly the stock speakers being replaced by ADS speakers, crossovers and power amp. I remove the lower 6 1/2 inch speakers and they're STILL the original Ferrari branded speakers, with the tweeters being changed to the ADS speakers. Kind of surprised me to see the original woofers installed. I'm replacing a relatively recently installed CD player and installing a Blaupunkt Brenan receiver. I have to figure out the woofers too, whether my originals are fine or time to replace.

If and when you decide to take out your speakers, the two screws near the door jam are pretty easy to see, but the screws mounting the speakers at the rear through the carpet are almost impossible to locate. Very hard to even feel the head of the screw through the carpet as they were screwed in almost flush with the plastic backing. I have these incredibly powerful magnets that are the size of a pencil eraser. They actually helped find the heads of the screws, by sticking slightly to the carpet at the screw locations. I spent quite a bit on time with my finger, trying to locate the screws with NO luck. Thirty seconds with the magnet and there they are. It still takes some scratching with the tip of a knife to find the cross of the phillips screw so they can be removed.

I replaced the speakers with newer 2 way ones. Just changed them out. Then I later changed my radio. Haven't had to change anything else. Unless you need more power

Nice ! I may do that. What did you go with for speaker brand?

Did you find replacing just those two 6,5" did the trick?

I forgot which ones I got, just ordered from crutchfeld. I had a 90s Sony radio in it with an amp. Now I switched to a modern one without an external amp.

Just switching helped, the old speakers weren't great. I would match the resistance to the new speakers. But they were easy to get and install.

You should have a filter which only sends high signals to the tweeters up above. I was looking at adding a small sub somewhere, but figure I don't really need it.

Do you by any chance know with the tweeters whether it's simple as taking off the covers and replacing with1.5" tweeters?

    Cheers

Haven't tried those ones yet. I've heard you have to unbolt them from the back but apparently they aren't too bad, supposedly.

For my use, just relaxing the main speakers made a difference. The road and engine noise drowns out the speakers at higher speeds, so I find it a waste to go for amazing audio in the Testarossa. I save that for more comfortable cars.

    Hi there
I have a question, did you leave the Ferrari crossover and just replaced the speakers or you replaced the crossovers with something that came with your speakers? I am asking because I got this JBL 602 kit that comes with crossovers and a pair of tweeters that fit the original housing perfectly but I am debating if I should change the tweeters too as the originals seem to work just fine and I’ve read is a real PITA to replace them, if I decide to not change the tweeters I might leave the Ferrari crossover and just replace the 6.5 speakers (which are the weakest link anyway)

    Hello Nathan
What did you ended up replacing? Just the speakers? Speakers and crossovers? Or Speakers crossovers and tweeters?
    Thanks
