Any ideas on upgrading the lights on the Dino. I drove mine last night in the pouring rain on some very dark unlit country roads. Shows up how poor the originals are.

Have you measured the voltage you are getting at the headlights? The efficiency of lights drops off dramatically with lower voltage and after all these years the connections are probably not as sound as they once were.

I always upgrade my cars to quality H4 European style lights (like Cibie, though you may prefer to search for new-old-stock Carello for the Ferrari), use new quality bulbs like the Philips Vision Plus, and rewire my headlights on my vintage cars with new relays and wiring to insure that they are getting full power (whatever the alternator is putting out). You can find information on how and why of upgrading headlights in these manners on this webpage:

True. but remember the Dino is notorious for bad lights.

The deep dish headlamp loses a lot of light before it ever clears the end of the car.

My car is awful at night, I just havent gotten around to looking at possible solutions.

Keep us posted as to what you do, and if it really helps.

There's a thread here on HID upgrade on a 308. And since the headlights are identical with the Dinos, that's what I plan on doing in the near future.

    Good luck,

Source for the alternator? Type model, price, you know, the works.

MY car goes for service in two weeks, and I'd lov eto make this upgrade.

    Thanks,

Check out the replacements you can buy here...

I would stick with one of the 60/55 watt halogens but you can get them with 30%, 50% or 100% Xenon. I put the 50% ones on my 308 and what a difference. It was as easy as changing out a sealed beam bulb. Less than $100 jobs don't seem to come along very often on these cars!!

Make sure that what you have is working properly first.

Check voltage, check bulb wattage, check reflectors for rust, check lens for fog, check aim of lamps...all these things are often neglected.
