Hello every 355 lovers ;-) I'm opening a thread to share the modifications on my F355 Berlinetta. I own this car since 5 years now and I already made some upgrades for track use: - Pagid black - Sparco steering wheel with spacer - Nitron racing shocks with Eibach springs (650lbs rear and 450 lbs front) - more track use "geometry" This year more heavy mods will occur: - AP Racing 6 pots front kit (356mm) - Challenge complete roll bar - removing all carpets - new painting of the interior - OMP 348 Challenge setas with new trim - front and rear Challenge anti-roll bar - Challenge drop links - rear Challenge wing - carbon rear hood with Aero catch lockings I'm still hesitating in the color for the calipers. the AP Racing kit comes in red and I want to have the same color for the rear. But the color of the Challenge calipers is also looking good, more racing... What do you think??
How about posting some pics of your 355 please? What colour is your 355 painted? Also, red calipers always look good on most Ferraris.
I will post some pics of the different parts as I recevie them and when possible during the work. my car is rosso corsa and interior is tan-black
Here are pics before installing the Challenge rear grill with the Challenge wheels: Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
And here are some pics during removing, cleaning and preparing the chassis for painting. I choose carbon gray metallic. Photo 2 suggests you might have another photo to post in this thread ! http://ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=34672
As you can see it is not clean, there is rust in some place. And I choose a dark metallic gray which will look good with the future carbon parts (console and doors). I plan to repaint the wheels in the same colour as well as two gray bands like some Chalenge cars, but that is only some idea at the moment ;-) something like this one: Image Unavailable, Please Login
the interior is ready to receive the roll cage: Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Does the OMP Roll Cage come with the plates that are welded to the chassis to receive the bolts to secure or remove the cage at each mounting point? Like the Challenge Cars. Same goes for the racing harness mounting tabs for the eye bolts that secure the race belt, these need to be welded to the back fire wall. I see you founds some carbon fiber racing seats. Lucky you! I like what your doing as I have been wanting to do the same. Keep us updated. Ciao, SRR
The roll cage does not come with the reinforced plates which should be welded on the floor. My garagist is doing them at the moment, it should be done tomorrow... He will also weld a plate on the firewall to fix the eybolt, everything will be done according the FIA rules! I hope to post pics before painting ;-)
Sounds like everything is in order on your side. Looking forward to seeing the pics once it's all complete inside. What are your options for rear brakes. I have been looking at the 355 Challenge brake setup but, the rear do not support the hand brake due to drum disc on the inside rotor of the stock oem, the F360 and F430 have the extra rear brake caliper for the hand brake. The issue is the F355 hub has no mounting plate for this, as one would have to be made and welded/bolted to the existing rear hub. Not impossible but not a bolt on. For the moment I'm only changing the front brakes: AP Racing 6 pots, 356mm They will arrive this week, but I'll be on holidays until the 28. The installation should be finished at the beginning of august (my garagist is also on holidays...)
For brakes, why not Stoptech? I have them front and rear and they are great. 355 front and 322 rears. Superlight calipers and bolt right on with no clearance problems. Parts are available and you can use the stock handbrake. I have the Trophy calipers and it is their race calipers with dust boots so you can use them on the street.
Here is the placement of the fixation which will are to be welded... I'll be back in 2 weeks ;-) Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Things look to be in order on your side! Have fun on Vacation! Did you get your roll cage from a Ferrari Dealer or Superperformance out of the UK? I'm not sure where your located. I see you got the 99 omp Roll Cage which has the upgraded side supports. Maybe the topic should read F355 Challenge Stradale? Ciao, SRR Image Unavailable, Please Login
I got it from Superformance in the UK ;-) Here are the carbon-kevlar seats with the new upholstery and Challenge logo: even better than the original one... My son Evan is ready to drive!
