It's possible you're accessing the site through an Apple with IE browser.

I don't use Apple, however, the problem as you describe it has existed for quite some time.

Since F-Chat switched to vBulletin software, there have been issues with Apple computers (sorely) equipped with IE.

In this instance, the fault is not with F-Chat or vBulletin software or Apple. It is with the IE browser. Microsoft-bashing aside, they need to fix it.

Have you tried to post pics with Apple's Safari browser? Many an Apple F-Chatter will recommend it.

I access Fchat using Safari and it works flawlessly.

You simply post your comments, click on the "manage attachments" button in Additional Options under the text posting box and you will get to a window that lets you choose files and upload them. Be aware that the Fchat software only lets you upload 4 pics at a time, but once you have uploaded them you can chooose another four. There appears to be no limit to the total amount of pics you can upload.
The allowed size of the pictures is also small and this can can prevent you from uploading if your total pic size is too large.

You're obviously of superior intelligence having chosen a Mac. Don't allow inferior Wintel technology to blunt your creativity. :)

Assuming you are using Mac OS X and Safari, then...

    1) Go into iPhoto and select the photos you want to post
    2) File menu... Export... File Export tab... Select to scale images no larger than and make the larger number 360-400 or so... hit Export... select a New Folder on your Desktop... hit Save.
    3) In Safari, create your post, hit "Manage Attachments"... then for each photo hit Choose File and select the file from that directory... after each four such files, you need to hit "Upload" button... when you're done, close that window and hit "Submit Reply".
    4) Delete that directory from the desktop.

    italiachallenge -

There are various browsers for the Mac (not as many as for PCs obviously) but they all work with F-Chat. I'm on IE 5.2 right now. To upload a pic, I get the pic "ready" for web use first. I size them down a bit using Photoshop or iPhoto; no more than 640x640 (the max size allowed by F-Chat).

Then, I save it to my Desktop - just because it's easier to find there, for me.

While posting, click on the "Manage Attachments" button, which then opens a new panel. Click on "Browse" on this new panel and navigate to the picture on the Desktop. Once selected, click "Upload".

Same procedure applies in Safari, and Mozilla.

Here's a sample pic uploaded from IE, on OSX:

Note that there is ALSO a data-size limit (measured in KB... 195KB, I think). And that one usually limits me to more like 480x480... depending upon the color richness and detail of the photo. Just FYI.

Dude, that looks exactly like the Alfa I used to have in college. Mine was a 1958 standard Giuletta with the single carb. What a fun ride!

James, it depends on your browser perhaps? Let's say you're on OSX and Safari. Mouse over the picture you want (say, the test pic above) and hold down CTRL while you click your mouse button.

You should be presented with several menu items, one of which is "Save Image As". Select that one and you should see the file downloaded as a jpeg, which is viewable with just about any program these days.

If you need more help, please PM me.
