When I'm tracking a package the UPS website is usually very fast. The FedEx is slow.....sometimes I think I'm still on dial-up (yech) or it's locked up.

Anyone else notice this, or is it something with my Internet provider (Cox)?

I always Fed Ex and usually overnight, so tracking is not crucial.

They are both equally fast for me... gotta be a connection issue?

as for selling ground on the website, what do you mean jjay?? You can buy any service (ground up to overnight) from either of their website, I believe.

I only use FedEx if a customer requests it.

    UPS is our primary shipper.

One of the reasons? They have the best tracking system in the biz, and lots of people who'll help us find stuff if it's missing.

I'd add that we probably ship 60,000 pieces a year with them, and they lose less than 50 a year. Not bad at all.

I don't notice a difference with either one.......it's probably your ISP.....or your computer.

FWIW I ship about 200 items a year with FEDEX.....and they haven't lost one thing in the 4 years I have been in business. UPS on the other hand.......well.........I'll just leave that alone.

I'm constantly receiving my supplies through FedEx and UPS. Both are great and are easy to track. DHL, on the other hand, lost my package the first time I used them. The recovery/compensation process is a PITA. I no longer do business with anyone that ships only with DHL.

You sure they do? They have a list of ZIP codes for each service - I thought HI was not listed for ground (along with those weird ones like Guam, etc). If they do list it, I bet it's truck (ground) to Cali, then toss it on the plane with the rest of 'em for the last part.

    +1

Biggest problem with FedEx is they have three seperate services that use three different trucks and three different drivers. There is FedEx Express (3-day, 2-day, overnight), FedEx Ground, and FedEx Home. Ground is ground to a business, home is ground to a residence. As a business shipping a lot of stuff, if you want to use FedEx, you must have THREE seperate pick-ups per day, and you pay for each of them. If you ship some of each kind of service every day, thats fine - but for me, I ship a lot of ground, maybe 5% of my stuff is express. My UPS driver takes all my packages, regardless of how they are going.

Having said that UPS really *****ed me this week. I am in a business park and I think we were the only company open. I TOLD THE DRIVER we were open all last week. But they still marked us as closed, so I didnt get any of my shipments this week. I called them on Thursday to ask WTF adn they told me all the packages for closed businesses were in a seperate warehouse and they could not pull my packages out.

    I AM PO'ED!

+1. I will only use Fed Ex because UPS sucks. Last November, UPS lost a red label envelope that I sent up to my investor in PA. In that envelope was a check for $70k. UPS then sent me a pathetic check to cover the loss of the envelope. I wrote UPS a scathing letter, and sent it to UPS hq via Fed Ex overnight. UPS sent me a few more $$, and an apology for their piss poor performance in both losing the envelope, and in their efforts to find it, and make things right with me. UPS lost a customer for life because of this.

Oh, and I recently sent a 52lb package (hammock for my brother's birthday :) ) from Charlotte to New Haven, CT, via Fed Ex ground. Cost me only $38 and it got there safe and sound. Great pricing and outstanding performance!!

    Fed Ex.

    Boat?

When I lived there, boat service was terrible via USPS... took weeks or months.

If they do, in fact, do ground, then wouldn't they have to call it water???

    Or ground/water/ground???

    Now, I'm perplexed!

Silly wabbit, why do you think HI has an INTERSTATE system? It's a wet drive, bring your scuba gear!! :)

ehh, here's the legalese on why an interstate is not an interstate. Although it does sound stupid.
