I work literally next door to this meeting so tomorrow I will be video taping this and posting via YouTube for those interested. Read on --- The Formula 1 folks will be attending a City Counsel Meeting tomorrow and we need to send a message to the Environmental Board requesting approval for the project. Please cut / paste / modify to your liking, the below message and email to the following addresses and sign your name after Thank you: ----------------------- [email protected]; [email protected]; [email protected]; [email protected]; [email protected]; [email protected] ----------------------- Subject: Please support Formula 1 Racing ----------------------- Dear Members of the Environmental Board, Please support the cut and fill variances, along with the construction on slopes variance, under consideration at todays public hearing. As a strong advocate for bringing Formula 1 racing to Austin, Texas, I encourage you to support what city staff has recommended. The granting of these variances will help make this project a reality. The area under consideration will no doubt be put to better use with the construction of a race track, as opposed to the original plan of an 1,800 lot subdivision. The track will allow for less overall traffic, and less carbon emissions, than if it were turned into a subdivision. Again, I hope that you will support the variances under consideration at todays public hearing. Thank you, Supporter of the Formula 1 United States Grand PrixTM in Austin, Texas -------------------------------------------- When you send the email, post a message here, saying "I support Formula 1 in Austin Texas!" Ask others to do the same and let's be heard! Thanks Vance Facundo for the heads up
Done Some email systems may not take the simi-colon separators ... in that case, copy/paste the above. G
Tony George. PS; There doesn't have to be. Getting it done will be next to impossible even without any opposition.
Agree. I don't believe they have funding. One can make a pretty strong arguement that if you want F1 to return to the US, throwing support to this group may not be the correct move.
First, while I am also not convinced the promter/funder has the wherewithal to get it done, I am excited about the prospect of F1 returning. I went to Indy during its run, currently go to Montreal each year, and would love to go to Austin. Just curious, these all seem to be personal e-mail addresses (as opposed to .tx.us extensions). Also, I couldn't find any of these names on the City's website. I guess these are private citizens that are volunteers or serve by appointment? I didn't want to send to random emails, so I looked a few up and they seem very legit... banderson - landscape architect, Austin rghary - Barton Springs Conservation District eva hernandez - Sierra Club I supported.
To answer some of your questions. Their is organized opposition to the USGP project. Some folks are trying very hard to delay and derail it with mis-information and high level statistical data that is more global than local. The email addresses belong to the people who are involved in the approval and review which is being presented to the Austin City Counsil tonight 11/03. I'm asking for support as I and a several other members of "Friends of Formula 1 Austin Texas" want to see the project through to completion as it would benefit our local community tremendously. I live in the small town of Elroy, within a stones throw of the circuit. I Love racing of any sort and I'm looking forward to adding Formula 1 to my list. A group of supporters will be attanding the meetng tonight and we need your support to show everyone how F1derful this will be! You can find us on Facebook or Linkedin.com under the group "Friends of Formula 1 Austin Texas". Thanks again, Vance Facundo
Read to the end. Vote for a Race track over a new subdivision. ARE YOU NUTS!?!?!?! (Emotional side) Lower traffic? (ok); lower emissions? Probably NOT. Likely End Result: NO SALE Bring in steady PERMANENT employment to the area that a subdivision would only provide on a temp basis (during the building)? YOU BET. Bring in temporary increases in Services requirements (food, lodging, entertainment, etc.) during race week-- DAM_ STRAIGHT! $Millions$. Likely End Result: SOLD!!! That is the way I would have sold this "Push." P.S. I'll send in too later tonight as I have to run ............ Good LUCK !!!!!!!
Is this a chain letter?????? Is something bad going to happen to me??????? JOKING )))))))))) Done!!!!!!
