Gentlemen, A big milestone for me today. This is my last work day as a doctor. (Well, I'm on call all weekend....) Been doing the same thing in the same office complex and hospitals for >16 years. Its a happy and sad day. Of course, I'm happy to be starting a new phase of life but sad to leave something I trained for for so many years. Really odd. BTW, I will still stop by for a few hours each week to do the books for my partner until he makes other arrangements.
well now at least you'll be able to keep the gulfstream idling at the end of the runway, ready to take you at a moment's notice to the next 330GTC for sale! so, seriously, what are you going to do w/ your spare time - assuming your new career doesn'/t consist of an interminable honey-do list?
Congrats. I am a firm believer in changing careers at least once during one's lifetime. Fact is, i'm long overdue. Hope you find the next step meaningful.
congrats, doc. you've paid your due in your profession and now rightfully earned your place in the elite group of early retirees. best wishes to your next endeavor.
Dr. D: I think I know how you feel. I was on a flight from O'Hare to SJ last month in which it was the Captain's last flight before he retired the next day on his birthday. He was happy and sad. On final to SJ, he got on the mic and talked about his 35 years of commercial flying. You could hear a Stu drop! During his somber speech, a few people on the plane almost started to cry! Upon landing, he keyed the mic again and said 'Thank you'. People clapped for about three minutes! You can take the doctor out of the hospital, but you can't take the hospital out of the doctor. Go forth and consult and make 2X your income for half the time! Peter PS: Maybe with all your new time off, you can catch up to Carbon on the post count!
Dr Uro: Are you giving up medicine forever and letting your licenses expire? Have fun, waking up the next morning after your last day is memorable.
Congratulations. You've EARNED it. BTW, I know what you're up to.... d Image Unavailable, Please Login
Congratulations and thank you for your dedication, long hours, experience, expertise, caring, never leaving the OR until the bleeding stopped, all the work you did you never got paid for, etc., etc. Medicine should put it's flag at half-staff today in recognition of the loss.
Congratulations doc! Whats important in life is family, friends, and enjoying one's self. It sounds like you are well on your way to really enjoying yourself. I am very happy for you! One question though. Are you sure you won't do the occasional prostate exam, just for old times sake?
It is far to tempting to go for the easy shots here...but Uro Best of luck to all With the free time are you joining us in California for Pebble Beach?
