    Hallo,

... just back from all windows Vista problems on my new PC...

Please a question: what is the oil consumption of the V8 Urraco engines ? Is there any factory spec about ?
Another question: what kind of engine oil do you think it's better ?

    Thank you for your help.

    Regards,

    franz

I dont think there are oil consumption figures (shouldnt really be much at all, unless you have some seal/piston ring issue!)

in the owners manual, there is a figure on how much oil the engine needs to be filled.

as i can't find the AGIP stuff here, i use Castrol GTX. so far its been fine. anyone else have more insight? synthetic vs mineral?

I think mine holds about 8 quarts.
Use any good oil. Does not have to be synthetic. These cars where designed around oil from the 60's and 70's. Regular motor oil is so much better today.
I try to tell people not to get all crazy over motor oil. Use what you prefer. The one thing I will insist is that you change it often.
My Countach gets changed, because of the little miles put on it, every 300-500 miles. My Uracco will be every 800-1000.
I've been in the oil business for 21yrs.

Thank you to all for your posts.
At the moment I'm using AGIP SINT 2000 (10 W 40), that's very easy to find here in Italy.
I'm using this oil also on another classic car, with a much smaller engine. In my Mini Cooper S.P. I use the Castrol TXT or Magnatec (10 W 40), always syntetic based oil.

About oil consumption, across the forums I read several posts with different opinions on what can be considered as "normal" or not. What's your direct experience on your cars ?

    Have a nice week end.

    regards

    Francesco

As far as consumption, I drove my car about 400 miles and had to add about 3 quarts (which does not surprise me). Lots of highway driving. The coolant went low too. I added some Stop Leak, which I recommend to do every few years. It's a good treatment wheather you have leaks or not.
But since all of this, my levels are still full.

    My Countach burns no oil.
Screams head gasket? Possibly. I will continue to monitor the usage, if any. And, at some point, I will pressure test the system.

    1) How much fuel does the Urraco hold? My fuel light goes on and I can put about 10-11 gallons in. I thought I read the tank is 20-21 gallons?

2)Emilo, The Countach and Urraco are two totally different cars. Everything is different. Going from one to the other is night and day. The Countach is sooooo much tighter, solid. That is because the Urraco tires and suspension is very soft. The Urraco is more user friendly, fun. The interior is more comfortable and cool. 2.5 liter = rev-happy.
The Countach is so much like a race car. The Urraco is great around-town driving.
I love the Urraco, it is so easy to take out and go to the post office or bank. I even take it to the grocery store (parking it a little bit away but not too far to stand out).
The Countach, it seems, is a process to take out.
I have decided not to take the cars to work. Keeping business and pleasure separate is much more fun. it gives me something to look forwad to with my free time.

Been thinking about taking the prototype wheels off my car and setting them aside. Not so much for the saftey of them but I may want to experiment with larger wheels with a tire that has a harder sidewall. My Coker replica tires are just all over the road.
Original thought was to purchase new tires for the wheel. I would imagine anything would be a little stiffer.
What year, model, and size BMW wheels fit? What other manufacturer?
Are those Bravo replicas still available? How much? Refresh my memory, who makes them.
    Any larger factory wheel fit?
Anyone know of a set of regular Urraco wheels for sale? May try the new tires.
I origianlly did not want the Bravos because I already have them on the Countach. But there really isn't anything I've seen that would look nice on the car.....I guess I'm looking at period correct.

Also, anyone figure out what spring we can use on the struts?

your correct bmw fitament but also late G-bod lotus esprit too....120mm x 5 if memory serves

don white has 16inch Rial Wheels on his P250S that look to fit perfectly. im not sure if you like the style though (bbs like mesh). i would post a pic but my attachment account is full and i dont know how to delete to free up more space.

i luv the shil bravos... good luck in fitting a 11incher on the back. you would probably have to run fronts all around.

on the rear of an urraco, maybe a CT front instead Silhouette front wheel? its 1/2 wider than.

europares list replica silhouette bravos but im not sure if anyone has ordered a set as of yet? ive seen the CT replicas, they look pretty convincing. has anybody compared the weight to an original mag campy? i bet the repos are a ton heavier.

    cheers

What an idiot. I just so happen to have a set of Bravo wheels sitting ten feet from my Urraco. Hmmmmmmmmm, Why don't I just pull the front wheel off the Countach and see what the fitment is like...........not that I could have done this months ago.....wow, what a mess I am :)
Goobers Urraco has the Bravos but with the multi piece bolts and the Bimmer wheels, well they're both posted on previous pages.

factory CT wheels 7.5inch and 9 inch in back. urracos are 7.5 all around

goobers arent bravos... just some inspired aftermarket version by compomotive who also makes the replicas for europares

not bad, but hardly as pretty as the originals. imo they are too big in diameter to be remotely period correct.

if you do put your bravos on the P250 please post us pics!!!!! ive posted a prototype yellow P111/P300 test mule with black flares that has CT bravos on it.

I purchased fronts from eurospares whilst my originals were being painted. They are great but heavier.
