fantastic pic!!! which one of the preproduction urraco is that? yellow, orange, silver? my hunch its the silver one with the plaid interior hf
As i can understand Emilio`s pic is a period/factory pic, so this car was white from factory delivery.
i think it was white since birth i have the idea it is the car owned by Franz in Italy ...but i cannot confirm it 100% i sent him a PM i bough one of 3 only copies made of this original picture
I was thinking about Franz car #15000 aswell, but the first thing i saw on Franz car is that it has aber turnsignal lights, so im not sure if its really #15000.
i just got an e mail from him it looks like the car in my pic is not his (15000) but the proto n° 4 (yellow)
yes its cant be #15000. although similar virtually everything is different on the pre-production models verse franz's early urraco. an easy clue to tell is the flush mount side windows and high mounted headlamp location. i cant think of any parts off hand that is shared other than the door handles, wheels, various fiat lamps and of course the emblem. come to think of it i not sure if its the yellow proto car. interior plaid trim, lack of fog lamps, and the biggest clue the wipers are LHD mounted points to it being the silver car. the yellow car wipers are mounted on the opposite side. the yellow proto was the closet one to production that ended up with a asymmetrical instrument panel, fog lamps and seats that resembles the production cars. according to Marchet's book, eventually it crash tested as i recall and is no longer around.
Hi How commonly avaialable are the factory workshop manual in English and parts lists for the 250 and 300? Are they in reprint? Paul
Daniel, I do not have the answer. Unfortunately, the guys with the answers do not post much. I would suggest keeping in touch with Mike in Ohio. He works on them and can answer most questions. I do not know how to get a hold of him besides a PM. If you do get him or anyone else, keep their phone number or personal email. Good luck. Also Joe Frazar is a man with answers.
Hi Guys, I have P250s with S/N 15166. I bought the car 10 yrs ago without engine. I got the engine from your eurospares but the starter motor is missing. I need your help guys where to get one or alternative and also manuals before I start the restoration. Any information will be a great help. Thanks, Leandro
Currently looking at a 1974 P250 Urraco. What should i be looking out for? Somtimes it will not go into first gear no crunching just baulks but then goes in smooth as you like. Best Regards Anthony
I would look out for everything! If I would buy another Urraco it would be a Urraco with complete ovrhauled engine and transmission.. I had my diff inspected 2 years ago.. One of the parts had come off and went around inside the differential.. Had to open up and shims the thing up again.. rebuilt the carbs, all new fuel hoses and new timing belts and tensioners and a new clutch.. Last year I had a blown head gasket.. Now I am getting all new gaskets, and new cyllinder liners, piston rings, and new exhaust valves as the old sodium filled bastards intend to break.. One of the valves broke when pulling the valves out.. And the plan was to just change the head gasket.. I think mine will be for sale later this summer as I have too many cars.. As a side note, I asked a company in the US for new cyllinder liners and got this in return: The cylinders were of a low quality steel and egg shape very quickly. The valves were sodium filled and break commonly. The pistons were low quality , they commonly fracture and do not stay round. The rings were low quality and loose tension quickly. There is no aftermarket parts for this car .. despite all this, it sure is wonderfull cars and I love them! Really a blast to drive.. Best regards Daniel Norway
EMILIO> You are right it's one of the pre-production car, I asked Paolo Stanzani how much car they used at this time, he told me two, I think this one was white, orange and silver fitted with different interior and became the Urraco Bob after, the yellow one was destroy in the crash test.
