Interested to know its worth in that condition? What did it sell for?
This is D day today! I just picked up the Urraco. It is now homologated and I had it detailed. It is now absolutely drop dead gorgeous! Even in front of her younger sisters. 150 km of small roads for the way back home, and my first impressions are great. I am impressed by this little car. This car is really refined, a proper motor car! Even though mine is one of the very first from 1972, it feels totally sorted. Just like a car that should have been produced in much larger quantities. The build quality is great, even 40 years after it rolled out the production line, which is a tribute to the great work of Bertone/Lamborghini. You read so different things about the Urraco from period magazines telling it was great from more recent ones telling it is crapy. I really feel these cars are underestimated because they sometimes had a hard life and bad maintenance, but a good one is very good! And I am very lucky because this example is truly mint inside, outside, underside. The ride quality is top notch, even amazing, no rattle at all, really comfortable and at the same time the roadholding is great, it corners flat with a high level of grip. The engine is really great too! The exhaust note is one of the best I ever came across, totally addictive. As good as the V12 in a different manner. It is smooth and at the same time rev happy, wow. I read many times that it was low on torque and too low on power but I have to admit it feels much nicer than what is told about it. The gearbox is a bit less user friendly. It gets a little getting used to, the throws are quite long and you need to be precise. But it is not as horrendeous as I was told! To give a comparison, it is still better than on my former 911 with the 901 gearbox. I really wanted a P250 instead of a P300 because I prefer the look of the interior and the look of the front bonnet and I am not disapointed at all! Especially in this fantastic colour that emphasizes the beautiful lines of the Urraco. It must be seen in the flesh! Those early cars have a purity that I like. All in all, it feels very nimble and reminds me of my former 1969 Porsche 911. I used it extensively today, on country roads, but also with the two kids in the back for going shoppping in town. I fully loaded the trunk which is very spacious. This makes it for a very usable car. The only drawback that I see up to this point is the absurd fuel filler which is located inside the engine compartment and which requires a lot of care if you don't want to splash your hot engine with fuel... Excellent, this is the ex-Wheel Dealers car and is very nice. Amari told me it had sold to someone in Switzerland. It looks awesome and you describe the experience very well indeed. Sounds just like mine. There are very well made with sensible design decisions compared to their contemporaries like the 308 GT4. Lee
It is even better in the flesh! I remember vividly our conversation about the Urraco, thanks a lot for your advice. Do you still have yours?
No, it is residing in USA for 4 months. Very satisfied, its current owner is wondering to sell it, even if it runs strong, but he has found another V12 project to finalize... Here is the ad => 1974 Lamborghini Urraco P250 P250 S for sale: Anamera Instead, I will have soon another toy to replace it, still V8 powered...
FINALLY someone gets it, what have been saying for years!!!!! LOL Enjoy it you lucky son of gun! I asked about it earlier because I had thoughts of selling mine and buying it. Just LOVE that color.
I also appreciate the purity of the early P250s or for that matter any Urraco with chrome bumpers. I have just completed 28 years of continuous 3.0L V8 ownership and yes - I also got it all those years ago!
I'm very happy that you can now enjoy the Urraco, I think that I have some photo of your car, I'll try to find them.
truly awesome...love the color combo! and yes dispite what the journalist have written over the years, the P250 interiors are much better than the P300... a big congrats hf
Dear all, Re-reading Arnstein Landsem's Urraco book, I came across this picture of a green Urraco mentionned as a press picture from Bertone. Even though I can not figure out a lot of details on this picture, it seems that: - the side mirror is a Vitaloni Rallye, just like mine. - there seem to be a champagne interior. - there seem to be a light headlining. - there is a similar roof antenna. Which is maybe not a strong point since a lot of Urraco's had a similar one. I assume that since it is a press picture, it could be an early car just as mine. Given the fact that this colour is pretty rare, I imagine that there is a chance that my car might be the car on the picture. Maybe someone could help: - does another picture of the same shooting exist? Would be great if we could see if there is any boot badge. - does anybody have an Urraco listing where we could see how many early 1972 cars were made in green? Any help would be much apreciated! And it would be great to start a game similar to the Italian Job Miura with the Wheeler Dealers Urraco! Image Unavailable, Please Login
I met your car when the guy who bought it off Wheeler Dealers was selling it via Edd China. He was the agent of Edd hence Edd helping sell it again. I'd previously been in contact with Wheeler Dealers when the car was originally for sale off the show, however I was too late and it had already sold. In the summer this year I was again in contact with Wheeler Dealers when they used my BMW Z1 as the pristine example for the Z1 restoration they did for the new series. I asked about the Urraco and it was mentioned it 'might' be for sale again. It went from there and I ended up taking it for a test drive with Edd when it was in Bracknell, UK in June this year. I had a great 30 mins in it and remember how well the engine rev-ed. The colour and interior were wonderful but I ultimately passed on it for another V8 (see Silhouette thread). Eventually Amari bought if off Edds agent. Below are some photos from my test drive... Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
a very good chance i reckon... i bet ivor would know the build of the early rear badge cars numbers. kim owns the other green rear badge car but its the non metallic verde
Great pictures! Thanks a lot for sharing, they are now part of the car's file! Thank you very much for sharing.
There were only two verde metallic cars with the boot badge, one of them em42's car. This car is unique in that it has a beige interior - an 'S' with a fabric seat colour. Indeed the seats have fabric seat squabs. I believe 'S' cars should have leather seat squabs and colour as senape [mustard afaik aka champagne]. Certainly the seats in the pic look lighter than I would expect of senape. Does anyone have pics of an Urraco P250S senape interior?
i do recall seeing S interiors have leather/suede or leather/cloth seats. but werent the S designated after the first batch of chucky seat rear badged cars?
