I’m posting this here since it looks like I may be one of the few, possibly the only one, who have installed a ANSA mild steel exhaust on a USA 308 QV. ANSA does not make a mild steel exhaust for the USA QV due to the higher temperatures. They do however make a stainless exhaust but it does not have the “vintage look” like the original 12 cylinder cars of the 60s. I decided on modifying a 2 valve exhaust to fit my needs.

I started out by ordering an ANSA exhaust for the 2 valve cars. This exhaust was purchased through MrFiat.com. David over there was extremely helpful in understanding my project and relaying that information over to his supplier in Italy. He was able to give me what Italy said about the temperature and issues that I may face. As well as pictures of the exhausts. He even included photos from another customer who tried to do the same thing as me but went a different route. He was able to get me an already made ANSA that was on the shelf, rather than being made from scratch which saves time. Shipping was quick and the exhaust arrived in great condition. He also followed up with me throughout the project.

I also purchased a Fabspeed test pipe. (This actually was not required and I have listed it on eBay for sale at a reduced price even though it’s brand new.) please message me if you are interested in purchasing this. I also purchased OEM Ferrari exhaust parts incase my fabricator need any of them. He ended up only using a few parts as well as the exhaust seals.

I found a great fabricator in Stuart FL. Hutches Welding. He can be found on social media. He was extremely accommodating and did a fantastic job. If anyone ever needs custom fabrication done he is the guy! I cannot recommend him enough.

He fabricated a custom test pipe as well as custom mounts that attached to the original mounting points on the car. It took him about 17 hours of labor to do this job. Again he took the car and I told him what I wanted and he said no problem.

Now that I have driven the car home, here is what I have learned. I drove the car 1 hour on the highway in mid summer florida day. Without the emissions equipment I noticed the car ran cooler and sounded amazing!

Now, I have just a touch of buyers remorse. The temperature of the exhaust is definitely a factor that I didn’t really take as seriously as I should.

    1. The powder coating on the exhaust. Immediately flaked/burned off. Revealing bare metal. Which looks HORRIBLE. It’s obviously not the best as the test pipe that my fabricator made was sprayed with high temp black paint. It held up decent but the exhaust paint fell apart.

    2. The ANSA stickers on the tail pipes immediately combusted. Again, far more heat than a V12 front engine car. They are literally just stickers. The red bands held okay but won’t last long.

    3. The Orange in the tail pipes also burned out immediately.

    Positives.
The exhaust sounds great, car runs cooler, and the look without the diaper is a lot better.

    steps in the future.
I plan on removing the exhaust and either having it cereacoated or powder coated again using high temperature paint. I have found a few that resist up to 1000F.

I plan on having custom ANSA stickers made using high temperature stickers. I’ve found some that can resist temperatures up to 500F. So I will find out the cost of this. I may try the stickers again but backing them with heat resistant tape. Although I am not too confident in that.

If your excellent idea of making up some high temp Ansa stickers ever should happen, please make up plenty of extras.

Lots of guys like me would be up for buying some of them, too!

Seems like a lot of aggravation , you should have bought a TUBI , and that would have been it, plus it would have had a better sound.

I probably should have but I’m stubborn. It’s okay I’m happy with it. I don’t have much time to drive it this summer and it’s too darn hot out!

update... After receiving my exhaust from jet hot it is now back on the car after some fitment issues. Total cost from jethot was over 1200$. Almost half of that was shipping costs. The powder coating they did was great and withstands the heat well. But it looks like during the painting process my chrome tips were banged up and dented. See photos. Their customer service was very helpful but total turn around time was almost 2 months due to numerous delays. I added the red stripe 3/8" using VHT spray paint red and inside the tips using orange after I polished the chrome tips. They were yellowed due to the heating during painting. My paintwork stayed on with 0 change over a 1 hour drive. In addition, I have ordered some foil ansa stickers that I found on a website. Will report back with heat test. Here is the link.

How did your Ansa stickers hold up? I had some of the “high temp” ones from the same place and immediately turned black in 100 miles.
