I can only think of two at the moment. The W had an FXX out front, maybe an F1 car too, and there was one in the hotel that connects to Roaring Fork on Congress. Several others we saw too, but cannot think of them at the moment.
There are currently two FF's and two Californias at the Four Seasons. Interestingly, they all have New Jersey plates. http://tinypic.com/r/t71gko/5 Also, a Red Bull truck: http://tinypic.com/r/2i6crrl/5
Not tonight or tomorrow, but Vance & I are teaming Facebook/FoF1ATX with the crew from Formula1Blog.com for a Tweetup this Saturday night at 830PM in the bar at the Hyatt Lost Pines. Come join us! F1B will be giving away a beautiful Lapizta watch, but you have to be there to win. We'll be joined at the Tweetup by F1B's Todd (@negativecamber_), Paul (@paulf1b), & Mark McArdle (@charlie_whiting aka- Fake Charlie Whiting). Hopefully some of y'all can make it out there too... Are the "come and race it" folks still active? I bailed out of twitter and so I haven't followed them, but since you're in the Austin Scene, I was just curious if they're still around.
Yeah I don't think they're as active as they once were, but they're still around. They're doing the party with Will B. Seems like maybe Kevin's role has diminished, but I'm not sure.
BTW, here are a few phone pics from yesterday morning out at COTA when the cold front was blowing in. Teams arriving, etc...
Mud won't hurt us. From turn 12 to the Grand Plaza is a short walk. Hope there are more food vendors this year.
Some of the food vendors have moved around. The trailers in the area might seem steep priced, but the house takes approx 60% of that ten dollar whatever-you-are-buying, possibly more for the more permanent locations. I just hope they have a map of the food vendors. Us locals seek out certain food trailers and want to know where to find them without walking a mile. Generally, all the food trailers made good stuff around town and inside the track.
Looks like there will be a couple of F1 cars on display at the convention center (close to all the downtown hotels) related to this auction: Cars | Motostalgia Want to buy an F1 car? Now's your chance - Austin Business Journal Someone will leave Austin with one great F1 souvenir...
For those of you who haven't gotten a chance to see a 458 Specialé in person and are privy to the invitation, there will be an unveiling in Austin.
I'm tempted to wear this shirt. Anyone else have one of these? Image Unavailable, Please Login Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Yeah I'd heard COTA takes a bug cut, but I never had heard just how much. No wonder many vendors are saying they can't make money out there!
So, I took my boys to the Hamilton signing before going downtown to the FOTA Fan Forum. Pics: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.740179479329933.1073741936.157330087614878&type=1 https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.740041062677108.1073741935.157330087614878&type=1
Question for you photographers out there. I'm bringing my Canon 7D, but I'm really trying to travel as light as possible, since I'm only there 2 days. I want to bring the camera and just one lens. This is what I have, Canon kit lens 28-135mm 2.8-3.5, Canon 50mm 1.8, and Sigma 18-35mm 1.8. I'm leaning towards the Sigma, as I love that wide aperture, and I plan on taking some pics of Austin at night. I know I won't have much of a zoom on it.
