Thanks for the info redcar. I am very excited to be back in Austin even if it is only part time. If you are around Bee Caves and Mopac, stop and say Hi.
It appeared to me that the USA F1 effort only appeared when F1 was in the midst of the cost cutting efforts. I applaud the effort but champane tastes on a Bud budget just did not cut it. I smelled a rat when they said they were not going to design the aero of the car without a CAD system... I would have really had them wait a year or two and get a bunch of well healed US investors and make a good 10yr run and producing a good car and driver combo. After all that bluster and not be able to produce a product for the grid. Sad. MJEFF
not to end the year with a fight, but saying USF1 destroyed all of the trust of its American fan base is a bit of a stretch. It hasn't affected me in any way. It was a blip on the radar, but i can't see any possible repurcussions because of it's failure.......... Kevin
Ok, "all the trust" was an exaggeration. But a lot of trust was destroyed and I'm sure a lot of people/investors won't touch F1 projects with a ten pole because of that anymore. Just ask some of the folks whose bills never were paid by USF1. Add to that a lot of US based F1 fans who blame Bernie/the sport for the failure of USF1. Right or wrong, they're gone too. So while it hasn't affected you (or me), I'm pretty sure it didn't help the Tavo group to find supporters/sponsors for their endeavour.
Its not JUST USF1 but F1 in general these days that engenders mistrust among the fans. IMO Windsor & Co has tarnished the reputation of American F1 efforts over seas more than here in the States
And you know of course who was to blame for the USF1 fiasco, right? It was all Schumacher's fault. Happy New Year and to many more online battles next year!
Seriously there is a third brother. Half brother actually and he can't drive (well neither can Ralf ). I learned about him when their mother died.
About freakin' time, just cutting it so close. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T2QSysHSDrI&feature=player_embedded
Anymore? No one touched it with USF1. There was a single investor, who knew absolutely nothing about the industry he was investing in. For a project with such a huge international potential, it shows how awful the "investment" was. Actual investors' trust was not affected one bit by the USF1 happenings.
Speaking of which, whatever happened to that guy? Wasn't he supposedly getting involved with another F1 team (the one those Serbian guys were trying to start)? And then didn't Hurley had some kind of assistant/dealmaker type of guy who was going to get involved (outside of his role with Hurley)? I wonder if Hurley just got sick of all the BS and bailed, or if he's still involved somehow behind the scenes. I bet the USF1 debacle stung quite a bit.
Guys like that would much prefer a quiet hit to the pocketbook than a public one to the ego. Another consequence to the USF1 debacle. Fewer big money guys are going to risk their reps.
Hey, cut Ralf some slack. Maybe he wasn't the driver that Michael was, but I did see him win the Canadian Grand Prix.
Thanks, likewise. I'm changing my avatars now on a monthly basis. This one is about 30 years old: That's an Arrows based F1 simulator. Was state of the art at the time when computers played Donkey Kong.
