Now that Austin is on the official FIA calendar, will the race really happen?

  1. Yes, it will happen.

  2. No, no way for construction to finish.

I'll have to ask Peter Kozura.(Newman Haas/Milwaukee Mile) ..it was only a rental so basically they hit town, erect them, and then upon completion of the event haul them away.

I had the shop drawings for the Texaco Grand Prix, I'll dig them out (I was doing other parts of the site logistics)....

That would make it a labor only subcontract, with a small damage deposit for any of them that get bent....'AlumaSystems by BEI' that looks a lot like what we had.

Point being it looks like only the Timing/Scoring Pagoda and the VIP suites are the permanent structures here, for the first year.

That's rather an interesting point, as soon as they start ticket sales, this thing is cash flowing......

True if he gets the crowd, among the competing major events the same weekend and he actually does promote the race as he should. Bernie's big gripe with Indy was lack of marketing. Lets hope he has a plan. Its never too soon :)

Done. The seats were too good to give up, low and directly across from the apex at Senna, first seats in the row with no one sitting behind (tons of room for cooler/backpack ).

    Crossed fingers for Austin.

It's been more than 3 weeks since construction stopped...

Any word on when construction will resume?

A little voice in my head keeps whispering that Tavo needs the $25M state money to get going...

Now that a date is finalized,... seems Tavo could sell tickets to raise $$$. Does FOM/Bernie/Etc have rules on how far in advance tickets can be sold (i.e., not until with 365 days of the race date for e.g....)?

I just can't get my head around giving construction days away...

You can post up to 5MB of attached pics as non subscribed, as you have noticed.

    Construction has stopped?

    As in 'nothing moving'?

Sounds odd to me, a contract is a contract, and if I stop at any point due to arguments over billings or receivables, I would open my self up to serious litigation by ALL other involved parties and to be replaced under the fine print of the agreement.

I'm not even allowed to 'slow down"....LOL!

Anyone inside have insight into what Simon is saying???

Sorry but no matter how you want to spin it,... FM road improvements (and substations) aren't COTA track / facility construction...

    http://www.kxan.com/dpp/news/local/f1-road-improvements-get-green-light

According to this article it says COTA agreed to pay $400K for road improvements... That's probably realistic for 1/2 mile... But it also says "Texas DOT to start construction..."

And IIRC the state awarded the contract... So IMO it's state work at this point. To claim that Tavo / COTA are doing the road construction is a stretch.

On another point,... just curious what ever happened to all the pipeline moving issues? Did that get done?

Ben, serious question (and try to answer without sounding like the COTA Press Secretary! ;) )... does the 4 week apparent cessation of COTA construction worry you at all?

By the way... summer's now over! ;)

There were no issues. Just someone came on here saying things that were untrue, and I had to prove him wrong....:D

No. it doesn't worry me at all. They have yet to let me down :)
