....http://mapq.st/zVctgZ Take a look.....that's calculated as one hour, I will see if it can recognize the COTA which is off of that Toll Loop east of Austin. You would stop and turn there instead of going on into Bastrop obviously....
A BIG Hug and thanks for the map and putting us in the picture ! TEXAS is sure BIG and so much open spaces !!!! G&H
Tell me about it, I made a one day run to the Oklahoma line (north edge, past Dallas!) last Friday, for some guns and ammo, (ten hours up and back) then the next day went to Gruene Hall with Jesse Dayton, who had played the Continental Club benefit in Houston that very afternoon!! Slept up in Austin that night, (not a bad drive at midnight, but watch your speed) then home to Houston (three hours) the next day. I'll rest when I'm dead....the live music is too good to miss!
BT, I know you, you are 100% legit. But I can not say that about the hotels in Austin. Absolute whores. Again, I hope this Austin COTA fails big time. Not kidding, I hope Austin/Cota fails. Bring on New Jersey.
Don't forget to check homeaway.com and vrbo.com for accommodations. There's a better chance that people listing rentals there will not know about the race, resulting in more reasonable rates and more availability.
There are a number of websites dedicated to renting furnished homes for 1+ nights and the rates are much better than those being discussed here. Google is your friend.
Just booked 2 rooms for friday and saturday nights for $230/nt looking out on the river. Pretty darn reasonable if you ask me. Thanks BigTex ! Stumbling home from Gruene Hall sounds like a plan.

Ben thats awesome and thanks for keeping on top of this for all of us. What would be REALLY COOL is if once the seating charts and prices are released there could be a complete section for Fchat members. If I used credit I would purchase say a 10-20 seat section but that does not mean one of our good buddys here could not do it for us!!!!!
Without wishing to rain on your parade (), that is the exact same schedule that they (more or less) always run..... There's a few exceptions nowadays, but at least Bernie's not trying to make it "Euro friendly" ala Singapore etc. I'm about to re-confirm my buddies spare bedroom. Cheers, Ian
This is how they are going to pay for the completion of this BS facility. They want a $100 per seat up front deposit. So if they do not finish, do I get my money back? COTA, please read this, you are stupid bastards. Never in 40 years of attending professional motor sports events has anyone with a questionable future asked for money up front. If this was a legit, no doubt event, I would pay 100% for my tickets now, but..... I hope you fail big time. Three years, then it is over for Austin. Hopefully sooner. Bring on New Jersey. Who are these morons? Read this tripe from COTA e-mail this evening: January 21, 2012 How do I enroll for Select Seating waitlist? Thinking I'm going to be in the cheap seats for this one.
Reduce your angst. PSL are (unfortunately) standard money grabs these days. Texas Motor Speedway did the same a decade or so ago, before they had races on the schedule.
Thinking, it is better this event, this COTA, just goes away and disappears forever. I feel insulted as a race fan. I honestly hope this group of idiots fails and lose millions of dollars. They deserve failure. First, Texas hotels want to rape you, now this race promoter does the same. I now remember why since college in Ohio I always hated Texas, and why I am really going to hate living in Texas later this year. Embarrassing.
Who will refund our money? Is it going is some sort of independent account? NOT! I would rather pay a ticket "agent" double than to gamble my money on a promoter whose future is somewhat questionable. I feel better, no more angst.
Feel free to skip the event, and this thread. It's clear you're not going to be paying any attention to any viewpoint other than your own. Have a nice life . . .
Exactly. Its a damn race lol, never heard so much crying over something like that. I hope anyone gets it, better if texas for me do to proximity but to wish failure upon any event seems rather petty.
OK, sorry for having an opinion. The point is, if you pay this money, what happens to it if the event does not happen?
