The latest image shows that spot as a "possible vip village" and a photographer podium. The sweetest spots will go at a premium. I don't suppose there will be any dragging of lawn chairs to a "vip village". There is scaffold seating between 1 and 2, but it faces away from the track and downtown view.

    Want? Give it up already.

So they were fully funded last summer, yet apparently a few weeks ago,... only had 90M... OK.

Your link says they have $185M of the $350M needed for phase 1. Inspection is supposedly 6 months away? thats barely 50%.

Have you ever spent $500-1000 on airfare (2-4x), $500+/night for a hotel (4 night minimum),... ticket price not announced (but you can buy a reservation to purchase a license, to buy a seat...)... for an event with a status similar to this project?

Were your ancestors favored customers of P.T. Barnum? ;)

Building until 60 days before the race, not 90. that gives them 7 months.

In my opinion I think alot of truth was leftout of the entire project and its cost aswell as many other aspects but frankly I could care less about those things. I see alot of progress and hope that Texas will have a F1 race aswell as many other racing opportunitys which is all that matters to me. I realize that may be the simpleton outlook but hey if I cannot control any facet why should I worry or complain about any?

The most optimistic thing is, they got 24 people to pony up a total of $90M. That's a big chunk of money, from presumably savy people. One can easily argue they know something...

I'm just wondering if we know what they know...

I know if I saw they had 95M toward a 400M project at this stage and was asked to invest I would run... why didn't they?

There is more to this story...

Someone had to pay the Bernie's fees too.

Epstein could have sold it several times over outright. And yet, he hasn't. Seems to me, that if he didn't have the ability to finish it, putting more money into it would only weaken his position later if he did have to sell....

How can you say this stuff with a straight face?

They just go $90MM of funding which takes them to half of their $350MM total requirement, and you're answer to the question of why you said it was fully funded several months ago is "it probably was".

    ???

I think everyone wants this to happen... this isn't about people for and against the race. It's more like the traditional argument between the sales and engineering departments. One is looking at numbers, metrics and evidence and the other is looking at the ad copy.

Simon's questions are excellent... if the just got $90MM, and this $90MM took them from 25% funded to 50% funded, that's not all roses, is it?

There is also the still-lingering question of why tickets haven't been sold yet. The first race is in, what, 4 weeks? As was said earlier, Austin isn't just competing with other local events of the same time, but they are also competing with every other F1 track since most F1 fans travel to see the races. It's getting to be almost last minute for anyone wanting to go to Australia, and actually it's getting a bit late to plan a trip to any of the first 4 GP's, which is 20% of the season. For probably a majority of F1 fans who travel to attend the races, Austin needs to offer up something quick - real quick - to get people locked in.

That they haven't done that and the funding article just posted telegraphs that someone is wrong. It doesn't necessarily mean something terminal, but it does absolutely refute the ever-rosy picture you paint of the project regardless of any negative information.

As Simon says, there is a lot more here than meets the eye. Don't confuse reasonable and logical skepticism with "hating". The questions being asked are reasonable. The answers given, aren't.

I usually try to mention how much I learn from you guys and gals here and especially regarding this track and all as you all know by now I prefer a more "back seat" approach/opinion etc etc. If I may I like what Mike just said meaning we all have concerns thats all.

LOL, did you post that after my comments about you in the Rossa police thread?

If you didn't see what I wrote yet, go look :) We were both complimenting each other.

Glad to buy you as much beer as you can drink if you're ever up Boston-way, Gregg!

No sir I posted before. I know everyone is being left in the dark concerning the Austin track and I am very concerned simply because we have all been left in the dark with no info or promotion. Simply put this whole project has cast a negative shadow over the truth which is we need a US F1 race and it is not just "Oh more big talk from Texas" imho. True F1 fans desperately need it no matter where it is held and yes I am also putting alot of support behind my home state but I do not think I am wrong yet could be slightly misguided though, lol.

Because once the contract with Bernie was in place, everything started happening.

So either funding was already there, or Epstein found $180MM very quickly.

I just don't see the logic in Epstein continuing to pour money into a project if he couldn't finish it.

They say they have always been funded. There is evidence both ways in my opinion.

Could these recent rounds of funding be a different sort of funding? By that I mean if Red or Epstein are paying out of their own "pockets' it does not have to be disclosed. Whereas the recent rounds of funding are from external people wanting in on the track (Buying stock, per se) and therefore have to be documented differently - i.e. SEC.

I am not a construction whiz nor financial genius, nor do I play one on TV, just an F1 fan that hopes we get a true natural terrain road course F1 race here in the States...

You guys amaze me. I am impressed at the amount of time you guys spend analyzing this silly track project, trying to convince each other that your powers of observation and deduction are superior.

If you guys worked for the CIA, Osama would have been found within weeks...
