That was a Tavo slanted and maybe PR firm planted article dragging up the same old stuff.

The track will get built in time. Asphalt going down now.

They never promised 120,000 grandstand seats.

We don't know yet what the other seating options are, but with June upon it, we should know in the next month.

With the Ferrari Club of America selling 3 day passes for $750, I am hopeful pricing will be a lot less than the PSL pricing they have been trying to get.

Another aerial photo released by CoTA today. It shows the foundations for the team buildings behind the pit/paddock building (we don't get too many images with this view, since all the photo areas the public has access to can only see the front of the building)

With over 5 months to go, they should get the track done in time for the race...

So that's a ticket broker, right? Just basically selling at a price they think they can fulfill with a profit?

I'm guessing Ticket City already has bought a bunch PSLs, but they can always buy more if they sell all their current T1, T15, and Grandstand tickets. Will be interesting to watch.

It's actually a very smart business risk. Ticket City being somewhat official looking, they will certainly capitalize on all the out of state/country visitors that have everything lined up EXCEPT their ticket and will jump on the opportunity to lock that in. They might even outsell CoTA themselves.

$287 GA for day of race

    $63 service charge (ticket city)

    +tax and shipping(?)

    $389 total

I can't afford that period. More important, how many people will pay that who have never been to a race? They've got to get it down to $150 to make this realistic.

I can afford it, but won't even consider attending the race at those prices. With what woud be nearly $800 tied up in just general admission tickets for me and the wife, I'd rather just spend the money on something else that last a little bit more than an hour and a half.

Montreal 2012 3-day GA is $123 from the track & TicketCity is charging $221.

USGP 3-day is $x from the track & TicketCity is charging $729.

    Who's good with math?

At those prices, I'm definitely not going. Gotta be way under $200 for me to even consider it, just for race day.

The math is that TicketCity doesn't have the pricing for GA, just like the rest of the world. So they are throwing out a price that will cover them for sure.

You can't expect to calculate their markup based on Montreal.

Yet we know the pricing for every other seat in F1 for 2012, and even for a couple of races in 2013.

No, but we can certainly expect to use Montreal as a good comparison. If COTA's 3-day GA is even 1/4 of of the $729 listed by TicketCity, then it's too high.

You'll know in June. That's what CoTA has always said. I'm not sure why you want to continue to beat a dead horse, everyone knows when pricing will be available.

Not a good comparison. TicketCity knows what the Montreal GA ticket prices are, and they know the demand, and they can markup accordingly. They do not know what the CoTA GA ticket prices are, and they don't know (yet) what the demand is. They will find out soon I guess. But for right now, why such a tizzy about how much some ticket broker is asking for tickets they don't even have? This doesn't even have anything to do with CoTA. It's just fodder for more hate I guess, like the hotel prices.

    Sigh...

I'm saying we can use the Montreal prices as a good comparison to COTA's prices when they release them.

As for the hate, nobody wants this track to succeed more than I. We've done more than you can imagine for COTA to help make sure this thing works. We're not bringing the hate. If we did, you'd know it. We're not gonna sugarcoat this mess either, though.

If that's the case, then I'm sorry for the inconvenience I'm causing by arguing the point with you.

But what you are saying now is not what you were saying with the whole "who's good at math" deal when you posted the broker ticket pricing for GA. You were using some ticket broker's pricing and comparing directly to their markup for Montreal and assuming that this indicated CoTA was charging too much for their tickets.

The way I see it, this whole latest fiasco was just a false alarm based on some ticket scalper site, and someone spamming that pricing all over the message forums as if it were CoTAs. And that game just doesn't fly with me.

In 2006, my ticket was $85 at the turn 10 grandstand at USGP @ Indy. I was hoping for getting a seat at T15 corner or grandstand, looks like that won't be happening now. (I got a better deal at game 5 at the 2010 World Series.)

    Damn greedy ass POS brokers.

I can see the race overall better on TV, and the beer is a lot closer and cheaper too....Went to all the Naptown Races. This race itself is nothing special for me. Would like to see the new track more than this race itself if I had to pick one or the other. Plan to be in the area, and I live in Chicago, but my wife and I agree that we will just watch the race on TV rather than be taken advantage of with ticket prices.

With all the problems this race has had, did the organizers ever make a flow chart of all the variables that had to be addressed and solved like cash flow/investors, roads, and good will to have people come....?

After receiving today's email from the race site, feeling out possible attendees now to see how much they will pay for admission and seating is about as professional as asking a dead hooker how much they charge....For me the probable answer for both at the moment would appear to be about the same....

OK, so..I haven't gotten the survey, but from what we've been able to gather, here are the survey price ranges. Who knows where the prices will actually end up?

    Turn 2 Grandstand – $400 to $600
    Turns 3, 4, and 5 Grandstands – $200 to $600
    Turn 11 Grandstand – $150 to $600
    Turn 12 Grandstand – $150 to $600
    General Admission – $150 to $600

Are they saying here that there will be no GA viewing except in these areas, or including these areas?

No single-day passes? Really? I already know I'm going all 3 days but my family is only coming on Sunday, so I have to buy 4 3-day passes when I'm only using one?

They are saying those are the area's you will be corralled into depending on how much you want to pay. I also assume the further away from the main grandstands the cheaper the ticket. It seems they are running counter clockwise and I would rather be towards the back of the track or around the s-turns. I need a more specific image depicting the turns to make a choice. Hell GA infield tickets should allow you to roam the entire infield so I might just watch the race on TV.

GA means, to me at least, I get in the gates and can go anywhere that's not further restricted. $600 to sit with the ants? [I guess they're nicer ants in the expensive sections] **** 'em.

Gotta buy all 3 days? **** 'em.

As for the survey, I was there until it refused to let me continue without supplying my email addy etc - **** 'em.

BTW, *still* no tickets for sale on the F1 site - Even Brazil is now offering tickets. As far as I can tell, these clowns haven't even looked/compared their prices with *all* the other places they race - Damn, even Monaco offers cheaper solutions!

    Cheers,
    Ian

+1 - Yes even in 'elitist' Monaco a normal actual human being of lesser net worth gets a proper seat. Austin is a JOKE. COTA is the biggest insult to F1 fans on the planet.
