Draft 1 of the COTA transportation plan is out in the open. I saw it first hand earlier this afternoon, but Austin Race Hotels has done a great job of hitting on many key aspects of the plan (@AustinRaceHotel):

Can they realistically finish on time before the inspection? Just curious.

Looking at the pics that Ben posted, I cannot wait for Lap 1 Turn 1 in the inaugural USGP! That is going to be one exciting start!

I have a room reserved, just waiting on ticket announcements.

We all kind of been wondering when the marketing blitz is going to start. COTA has openly said they haven't invested in that, its been mostly social media "buzz". So instead of spending on marketing to the US, they have selected a very small slice of Austin's "in crowd" to market to. These guys are playing "dress up doll" and making the social rounds instead of rock solid marketing to the US. Good luck, COTA.

Circuit of The Americas, in conjunction with the Circuit Events Host Committee, announced a partnership with the organizers of Austin Fashion Week to kick off this annual week of fashion with a prestigious event marrying motorsports and style. Tickets for the Kick-Off Party and other events during the week are available now at http://fashionweekaustin.com/tickets.

SHIFT INTO STYLE—an exceptional fashion party and fundraiser, featuring runway shows, gourmet food and live entertainment—will be held at the Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum on Friday, Aug. 10 from 8-11 p.m. and serve as the official start to Austin Fashion Week. Circuit of The Americas’ beneficiaries for this event are Seton Breast Cancer Center and Dell Children’s Blood and Cancer Center. During the evening, more than one-thousand guests will witness as VIPs from the fashion and motorsports industries unveil the outfits to be worn by the Circuit of The Americas’ (COTA) Girls at the United States Grand Prix Nov. 16-19, 2012. COTA Girls are stylish ambassadors who will be part of the color and pageantry during the race week festivities. Local fashion talent, of Fashion Star fame, Ross Bennett designed the COTA Girls’ collection for Austin’s 2012 Grand Prix and will be on hand for the unveiling.

“This is one of the most unique design projects and it’s an honor to have been chosen for this special assignment in my hometown,” Bennett said. “Formula 1 events draw sophisticated fans from around the world. We expect SHIFT INTO STYLE to highlight the important role fashion plays in international motorsports.” ????????WTF

SHIFT INTO STYLE will feature runway shows by Robert Danes and other locally and nationally recognized designers, with hair and make up by ROAR Salon. In addition, proceeds from silent auction items created specifically for this event by Kendra Scott, Linda Asaf, Lana Chu and other designers will benefit The Arc of the Capital Area.

“The Circuit Events Host Committee is working on a number of special events leading up to the United States Grand Prix in November, and we are excited to launch our official event schedule with SHIFT INTO STYLE in partnership with the great team responsible for Austin Fashion Week,” said Geoff Moore, Circuit chief marketing and revenue officer. “Formula 1 Grands Prix are very fashion-focused experiences, and we expect SHIFT INTO STYLE to get our guests excited for the fall season while providing a preview of what we expect to see at the Circuit this November.”

What next the Real Housewives of Austin?? It is very hard to even care about this event anymore LOL!

I thought the Red Bull video was a great idea. Now this instead??

They havent announced tickets but they have fashion???

Getting people in the mood for F1 is about racing not heels and skirts. ROAR Salon lol! How about an F1 car roaring instead. Nah too much to ask from COTA.

This sad item confirms this is a race marketed to the rich with real fans as an afterthought. P A T H E T I C.

Sad Tex. They dont have enough security to allow a paddock walk. How do they expect to secure a race. Weak.

    That's just disturbing.......

I don't expect that here, but it just shows how upset some people are, at the 'have"s of society.....

I listen to the left end of the broadcast radio dial , and the spokesman for the students protests there, sounded like an egomaniac....:D :D

Yea the world is crazy. Not all groups will ever be happy. I dont see F1 per se as causing issues for the students. Its a high profile event they can leverage. I sympathize for the cost they feel for education.

Man what is not expensive now.
At least there is still a 1 euro menu at McDonalds still :)

...including many F-chatters that have posted on this very thread how Texas/Austin/COTA/ Tavo (insert your personal gripe) have handled them as "true fans", hopefully they won't be demonstrating at the opening ceremony :)

The haters will pretend like they said nothing by the time the race rolls around. How else can you explain the inverse relationship between the progress and the # of posts in this thread ;) hater's gonna hate.

I don't think they'll be much demonstarting. How are they going to get there, anyways, with all the traffic :D

On a side note; Sergio Marchionne coming just to Austin just to congratulate Fiat Austin on selling 100 cars last month, I think not :D

I can do $172, even if I just show up for race day. As soon as they officially go on sale, I'm buying my ticket and booking my flight! I'm just flying in and out for the race, even if I have to fly to San Antonio. Also need to get a rental and I'm good. Lets see, fly out Saturday night or EARLY Sunday, then fly back Sunday night to LAX. Hope I can work everything out.
