Mexico City newspaper Reforma says in a May 19 article that COTA officials are blocking Hellmund's attempts to hold a MotoGP race in Austin: Reforma.com https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=464806776867206&set=a.161638520517368.39180.157330087614878&type=1
Draft 1 of the COTA transportation plan is out in the open. I saw it first hand earlier this afternoon, but Austin Race Hotels has done a great job of hitting on many key aspects of the plan (@AustinRaceHotel):

Looking at the pics that Ben posted, I cannot wait for Lap 1 Turn 1 in the inaugural USGP! That is going to be one exciting start! I have a room reserved, just waiting on ticket announcements.
We all kind of been wondering when the marketing blitz is going to start. COTA has openly said they haven't invested in that, its been mostly social media "buzz". So instead of spending on marketing to the US, they have selected a very small slice of Austin's "in crowd" to market to. These guys are playing "dress up doll" and making the social rounds instead of rock solid marketing to the US. Good luck, COTA. What next the Real Housewives of Austin?? It is very hard to even care about this event anymore LOL! I thought the Red Bull video was a great idea. Now this instead?? They havent announced tickets but they have fashion??? Getting people in the mood for F1 is about racing not heels and skirts. ROAR Salon lol! How about an F1 car roaring instead. Nah too much to ask from COTA. This sad item confirms this is a race marketed to the rich with real fans as an afterthought. P A T H E T I C.
Protests cancel opening day festivities in Montreal..........."security concerns" cited by FIA. Hmmmmmmmmm.
Sad Tex. They dont have enough security to allow a paddock walk. How do they expect to secure a race. Weak.
That's just disturbing....... I don't expect that here, but it just shows how upset some people are, at the 'have"s of society..... I listen to the left end of the broadcast radio dial , and the spokesman for the students protests there, sounded like an egomaniac....
Yea the world is crazy. Not all groups will ever be happy. I dont see F1 per se as causing issues for the students. Its a high profile event they can leverage. I sympathize for the cost they feel for education. Man what is not expensive now. At least there is still a 1 euro menu at McDonalds still
...including many F-chatters that have posted on this very thread how Texas/Austin/COTA/ Tavo (insert your personal gripe) have handled them as "true fans", hopefully they won't be demonstrating at the opening ceremony
The haters will pretend like they said nothing by the time the race rolls around. How else can you explain the inverse relationship between the progress and the # of posts in this thread hater's gonna hate. I don't think they'll be much demonstarting. How are they going to get there, anyways, with all the traffic On a side note; Sergio Marchionne coming just to Austin just to congratulate Fiat Austin on selling 100 cars last month, I think not
I think the USGP ticket pricing has been inadvertently released by ticketmaster: http://www.ticketmaster.com/event/0C0048B78C785D12?majorcatid=10004&artistid=915307&minorcatid Not including fees, the prices range from $159 for general admission to $499 for Turn 12 grandstand (upper rows). All are 3 day passes.
Oh, my.......You mean all that b****ing and moaning on here about the "$300-anthill-seating" was for nothing?????? Noooooooo
I can do $172, even if I just show up for race day. As soon as they officially go on sale, I'm buying my ticket and booking my flight! I'm just flying in and out for the race, even if I have to fly to San Antonio. Also need to get a rental and I'm good. Lets see, fly out Saturday night or EARLY Sunday, then fly back Sunday night to LAX. Hope I can work everything out.
