I'm throwing a big party, South Congress at Live Oak... Going to need a temporary perimeter fence, and a PA system for the live band. Nobody steal anything, from my buddy's house!!! It's not far from Trophies and the Continental Club.
Don't go there. The thread was started that progress wasn't sufficient to make the june 2012 race date. It wasn't. They didn't. Tavo himself said they couldn't... hopefully that's enough on that subject! Looks certain there will be a race in november. Great. No one was hoping for failure.
There were some far fetched opinions rather late when it was obvious it would happen. But I see your point so the crow will stay in the freezer.
Thanks. Hopefully the weather will be beautiful,... the track will shine,... and everyone has a great time.
I told you so..... Sorry, i had to say it. And it wasn't about the ability to make the june date, you didn't even think they had the money. Glad I was right
I certainly deserve it. I was wrong. And I'm glad for it. Looking forward to this race on TV and maybe one day in person when/if I find a hotel downtown.
Andreas hopefully 2013 will be alittle less frustrating in all aspects for us fans even though I have a place to stay in Austin (friends house). I am 99.99.99% certain I will be enjoying and recording this yr's GP at home aswell.
I am curious as to how BE feels about this? After all Tavo used his BE affiliation to get the ball rolling.
First time I've seen the words Ecclestone and feelings in the same sentence. I find your logic most peculiar.
You know the old saying..."If a Tree Fell in the Woods and...." Well..."If an F1 Race Happened and No one was there to see it did it happen"...
Indeed it could have : http://techcrunch.com/2012/07/12/yahoo-confirms-apologizes-for-the-email-hack-says-still-fixing-plus-check-if-you-were-impacted-non-yahoo-accounts-apply/
???? My understanding is that this race is nearly sold out - other than the hoarded PSL seats that haven't sold yet...
Does anybody have info on the shuttles being offered to/from the track for the "normal" (non-PSL) seats? The organizers obviously should have something in mind but I haven't seen much on that yet. Can't help but think this first go-round for the Austin GP is going to be a logistical nightmare with the masses all trying to get to their seats. I think this smoothes out over time when the organizers gain experience, but this first race might be a pain. Wondering about alternatives to/from the track.
There are 2 announced shuttle pickup/dropoff points so far: 1) Downtown Austin, 2) Expo Center in NE Austin. They say there might be a third park-n-ride somewhere south. There is also a smaller shuttle route for cyclists from a nearby park. My own experience leads me to recommend highly parking downtown and taking the shuttle back/forth from there. Downtown has many more routes in/out and many more parking options, plus it will have 2 F1-related festivals going on during the race weekend. Also, DT has all the clubs, restaurants, and stores so there is plenty to do if you have to wait. If you want to see the nuts and bolts of the traffic plan, you can see it at: http://alt.coxnewsweb.com/statesman/pdf/05/052512F1traffic1.pdf The plan seems pretty decent to me, with contraflow lanes and the 538 shuttle buses (Capital Metro, Austin's public transportation, only has 400 or so buses total for the whole city -- so 538 is a huge amount). Of course, this is still the first time Austin has had an event like this and the roads near the track are not big. So plan for the worst and hopefully it will be a *little* better than you expect.
The whole world is invited to my party, except for SRT Mike. I'm going to mail him a copy of the Electrical Riser Diagram, when I get it.
So, 70,000+ people, many of which want to arrive/depart the track around the same time have a up to a 3.5>4 hour wait to get on a bus......that doesn't seem ideal for a 1 day event, much less doing it 2 or 3 days. Have any supporting races been scheduled?
