Come over! You can have the Airstream!! The Salt Lick is a Food Vendor.... Here is a great find (From the Austin Montly article) and check the date..this is Tavo and Kevin, laying out the track on a napkin, after looking at Epstein's property....for both F1 AND MotoGP.. Check out the notes, and then compare it to the final track! I just LOVE seeing these rough sketches.....used to use tracing paper for this stage.... I'll bet Tilke never touches paper. Maybe Benjamins.... Image Unavailable, Please Login
Well, as I said in my comment, these are GA tickets and the assigned seating aluminum flat bleachers... The Italians are all on VIP packages, or they are guests of Ferrari!!! Red McCombs and Brien Epstein both have Private Tents, too. I got a LOT of intel on the Track itself, and they are going to give us (bus) rides on it before the event. You can certainly see it "glowing" at night now behind the airport, someone leaves the lights on, (or they are doing final work, three shifts a day)
With all the chaos of the first time, maybe next year. Have to decide between Montreal or Austin. I'm a day's drive from El Paso (600 miles), with the incentive of a detour to the Hill Country, which has incredible roads (have done it on a sport bike, but not on a car yet). Hopefully next year members here can give new atendees a heads up on everything, from lodging, parking/public transportation, etc. Hey BigTex, what's the deal with the observation tower? Heard you can watch the race from there. Wonder what kind of package is that. Thx.
Do you know if the 2nd mailing is the last mailing? We are leaving for Tulsa next week Wednesday then on to TX the following Monday. Thank you for your assistance. Norbert
My tickets and parking pass were waiting today in the PO Box. Now must determine whether or not to drive FCar. Hmmmmm
That was added, IIRC by Red McCombs.or Bobby Epstein??..it holds 100 people, all personal VIP guests. It DOES change color (fiber optics most likely) and looks nice from Hwy. 71!!!
Do you know if there will be 100 people in it for this race? Or is that in the future? Hope at least they can get a camera up there. Also, the multicolor lights are LED per the architects.
Depends on the parking lot you have, I got a parking pass for the M lot and drove to Austin the other day to check it out, it was gravel, so any low profile car might have an issue.
BigTex, you are a wealth of information I'm not walking into this cluster totally blind I just got my paddock ticket of sorts... It was from FNA in their Challenge Paddock area on turn 19... any intel on that? It comes with track side parking so I assume I don't have to hike 3+ miles on foot or shuttle? Oh and not sure you have a separate thread on this but are you still throwing down at your place for some crazy fchatters to meet up!
More info about that mysery email many of us received a couple of weeks ago: http://www.statesman.com/news/news/f1-circuit-sues-former-web-host-over-hellmund-vide/nSrF2/
I have permission to "FILL THE YARD" (and surrounding streets) with cars! So anyone that needs a safe place to park on South Congress is certainly welcome. All the clubs and shops are walking distance, from there. We hit problems with a BIG party.....Live music, amplified ...needs a permit Mass Gatherings (more than 50???) needs a permit. So we are going on the "down low" and backing off of my planned Mini Woodstock. No mud wrestling and the exotic dancers will be doing regular shift at Expose. But it's still "game on" and we are going to have a good time! I know FCA has some special stuff planned and I don't want to distract a tiny bit from any of that, I'm sure it's gonna be special! So I'll post my phone here briefly as it gets closer (or now if you have questions) I'm just starting in my role as Wayfinder. Antone's has Charlie Robison that weekend.. We'll check Continental Club (hot rods will give way to exotics) and we'll play it as it lays!!
Turn 19, prime real estate just to the right of the Main Entrance Plaza, just east of the Big Tower....great spot, IMO. Trackside is a relative term, but that does mean you are on site, drive in, no shuttle. The set up at the track will be transport via Track Trams, one running each direction. If you have a need, these will be good, but they are going to STOP AT EVERY STAND/GATE so it'll be a VERY slow way to go, if you are able bodied, compared to the tunnel or the Walkover bridges. Going north from the Main Plaza over the walkovers takes to the North side of the Track, they tell me the view from Turn 1 into the sunset you can see ALL of the downhill run, to T11, with Austin's skyline as the back drop. Sometimes it's better to be lucky than good. The Crew Leader saw me walk in and "Turn 1 Crew" it was.....
My parking pass is on-site in North lot so I should be OK regarding ground clearance. However; the traffic getting to track might make me reconsider driving there. Guess some early morning trips there should be planned. Will PM our "insider" for any possible additional details.
If anyone knows of someone looking for a room for the GP weekend let me know ASAP! I plan to cancel the additional reservation I have by weeks end and would hate to if someone needs a place to stay! Lemme know! Thanks, Syd [email protected]
I'm sure Big Tex will be along soon with some comments..... I have no idea.... But, we always used to walk around on Friday to get a feel for the place - Inevitably threw up a couple of "good" spots that made arriving *early* on Sunday a good plan. Enjoy, Cheers, Ian
