Now that Austin is on the official FIA calendar, will the race really happen?

  1. Yes, it will happen.

  2. No, no way for construction to finish.

This should be interesting. Any bets as to what the announcement will be about?

Doesn't sound good to me man. There'd be no announcement if they could finish on time, right? We'll see.

Probably good news, the "Friends of Formula One Austin" facebook group posted a picture of a billboard overlaid with question marks with the caption of "You'll find out soon enough". If a billboard is involved in an announcement, I would speculate that it is good news.

I'm thinking we'll hear something good. It might be all lies, but I don't expect it to be bad news.

I agree....it will probably be good news, fabricated or not. Probably some new financial partner.

Positive spin needed to raise more cash before the well runs dry. This project is running on fumes... and this "announcement" smells of longhorn steer exhaust.

Bob Varsha is on his way here to check out the track, and probably something to do with Tuesday's announcements.

You guys have it all wrong. Inside scoop is that they will be announcing the new public relations director for the USGP at Austin.....Peter Windsor!

Peter will field all requests for information from press and public and will take an active role in gathering necessary funding for construction. Based on his well established connections in the F1 world and extensive expertise in team managment, Peter will be essential in bringing this project to fruition. He will also be involved in the design and fabrication of the new technology carbon fiber curbing to be used at the circuit, as we all know....the best carbon fiber is found in the US and Peter has access to that industry!

Any chance this track could be ready to host by years end? Maybe fill in for the race we lost in the begining of the season?

    Let the flaming start!

    What sort of support?
Are we talking about an appeal for public funds? Infrastructure?

An MLB or NFL team can expect government assistance when they build a new facility so why not motor sports?
IF true it does seem a bit late in the process to come looking for gov't help though.

I really doubt SPEED TV is going to get him air time to ask for money. Me thinks whatever he's gonna say, it will silence a lot of the critics of this project.... :D

As critical as the critics are, I think the announcement would have to be that they will be testing the circut next week, and that isn't happening. Only when this thing happens or doesn't will anyone stop debating the legitimacy of this whole deal.

I also suspect if it does happen, there will be debate for how long F1 will want to race in the US and how much of a failure the venture was.....it goes on.

Pirelli is sending some tires down, and they're gonna test them on dirt. depending on how this goes will determine if they pave it or not.

Sorry, my sarcasam didn't come through well enough, but it was sarcastic. Testing is not happening of course. I was simply implying that the race will have to be 2 laps in before anyone calling foul on this project is convinced.

    Beautiful weather here today lol.
