My latest R&T tests a 599. I know they often use different examples for photo cars, but the article suggests that the US version 599 has launch control. All pictures identify an American car, mph etc. Is this just R&T misleading us, or do they provide LC on US cars now?

I believe Car & Driver tested a US model in S. Cal whereas the Road & Track test was done in Italy at Fiorano in a Euro spec car. R&T were 0.1 sec quicker to 60. Not enough to warrant moving to Italy.
The LC button isn't there in US spec cars but the software is resident in the car's computer. Some previous posters have identified the sequence of events that you can do to activate it, something along the lines of:
select CST "off", put the car in 1st, pull on the downshift lever until a beep sounds, left foot on the brake, bury the throttle and let go of the brake. The car should hook up and launch without any wheelspin. You will also eat at least 20% of the clutch life so I personally won't be doing it anytime soon.

The 599 launches just fine in sport mode at full throttle and beats just about anything out there, more so due to the unbelievable rapid shifting that the tranny is now capable of, than anything else. The Enzo engine has a bit to do with it as well I guess :)

thanks for the clarification. The article is very misleading as they describe the obviously euro spec car's features while reporting to the US audience and using photos of a us spec car.

I also agree that LC is a little excessive, but then I'd have the car with a stick anyway.

If you follow the Launch Sequence... it works without the button -- like a back door. I did it on my 599.

TRADED it in for my black one -- just paid the difference for the carbon brakes...
