Currently have a INNOVA 3100 it won't connect? 1st time used. Yes odbll pin 4/5 connection done. Are there any that actually read and display faults or am i doing something wrong. Turned car off a month ago and it cranks but won't fire. Fuses checked has fuel but no spark with timing light. Last time used speedometer sensor was faulty/intermittent with dash lights. Changed but car won't start now. I'm suspect on crank angle or phase sensor?

I have a 3100 from a long time ago, and another scanner and they both link differently.

On my 3100: 1) alarm must be turned off with key fob, key in run position and not cranking or running.

My 3100 links every time that way and you can pull any pending or stored codes.

Was the battery dead when you tried to start it or was it on a charger for the month? If it was running a month ago......did you recently install the speedometer sensor or was that prior to a month ago?

I'm just trying to understand the sequence of events. Also what year is your car?

Heads up. The wifi OBD transmitters if left plugged in will drain your battery. The OBD power is not switched from the key.

My BlueDriver turns off once the key is in the off position. Not sure if it is specifically built to do this?

Car was running fine a month ago except speed sensor/speedometer intermittent. Battery is fully charged never flat. Changed speed sensor before trying to restart 1996 GTS

You may not see any connection related data as the car is off but in my case the wifi OBD still shows up on my phone wifi list and I have had a dead battery on account of it being left plugged in.

    Are you using the BlueDriver?

It has a blue light that comes on when there's power to it. Mine turns off when the key goes off.

What I am thinking is that the immobilizer has kicked in. Others can speak with greater authority on your model (I have a 1998)..... I believe a 1996 model will spin the starter and not start the car. Before I replaced any parts.....I would confirm that the immobilizer isn't seeing a fault.

I'm speculating that something in the process of replacing the speed sensor .....may have triggered a fault. The ODBC connection won't help solve an immobilizer problem.

Scanner won't connect without car running. Immobiliser system is all working. Apparently some cars connect to scanner running some not? Pretty hard to fault find if car won't start to connect to scanner. Thanks for everyone's help but I believe it is a crank or Cam phase sensor as it has fuel pressure but No spark

Could you describe how your immobilizer worked before the problem. Ie light flashing, not flashing, horn beeping, not beeping, and does it arm by itself if not armed for 15 min.

I agree it seems odd and I want to be sure you immobilizer is working as designed.

If seems odd both banks would shut down but a crank poss sensor is possible.

What else if anything did you fix other than the speed sensor??

Also you car is right about when they changed from 2 crank sensors to one but if obd2 if should only have 1 i believe.

Also your car is right at th age that your coils may or may not have the triggers on the coil packs. It should not have them so the main single ecu should be sending the spark signals.
If that is the case you can put a meter on the signal wire at the ecu and check for continuity back to the coil.

The pins are number 49 50 51 52 see ecu pinout to check and then you atleast know if the coils are being told to trigger spark.

I belive row 2 in the ecu.
