US Version - 488 Tail Light Turn Signal

Can anyone who knows for certain (maybe a new owner), confirm the color of the rear turn signals and rear hazard flashers on a US version 488? In Eurupe they are Amber, but US cars are sometimes red, depending on the cluster design and how it conforms with US DOT regulations (as with the 458). Thank you.

I totally agree with you. Funny how high-end car owners will obsess over every little detail (i.e., stiching, tach color, wheel hubs, etc.) and yet most have no opinion about this topic. At the same time, tail light clusters have evolved to be one of the most significant elements in automotive design. As for the reason why there is a color difference in the US, some are of the opinion that it is simply a DOT regulation. I'm not a regulatory expert, but I would have to believe it's a choice that brands make, in addition to conforming to US regulations. For example, today in the US, every Mercedes-Benz car has red turn signal flashers, and yet, Lexus and Land Rover have made certain every one of their cars have amber. Still, some brands have a mix. Interestingly, I have received offline emails from 488 owners who have told me that their car has amber and another told me red. So, I guess I'm looking for a few tie breaker messages to resolve a seemingly simple question. All it takes is pressing their hazard button and looking. Thank you.

 

Yes, that's understood. But, in the US, there isn't a rule that requires one color over the other, which is why you see both yellow and red in market. In Europe and Asia, turn signal flashers are required to be yellow.

Yes, US 458 were always red. This question was specifically regarding the 488.
