If I understand it correctly, the seller loses 10% from the hammer price and the buyer tacks on 10% in addition to the hammer price.

If that's the case, RM made $84,000 selling this F40. The seller walked with $378,000 in their pocket and the buyer paid $462,000 to take it home.

Please correct me if I am wrong. :)

yes, what history? not cool to drop a line like this w/o elaborating-I'm certain the "new" owner doesn't appreciate it nor would I.

Is that green an original color on the Dino? Don't think I've ever seen that before-would like more pics - looks like a Dodge color ? sublime

Hey H. Lines like that only come from dealers, don't they? ;)
Close to Fiat Verde Fluoro '70-71. I can't find name Dinos used. Was paler than the Stratos green.

Abster: it seems inquiring minds would like to know about this F40's "history" as you describe it. Can you please return and enlighten?

FWIW I checked my register and I have nothing negative (known to me) on this particular F40 that sold at RM.

Sorry to be off-topic, but I just want to say that I really love this thread. Thanks to Joe and everyone else who's contributed. It's by far the most interesting resource I've found on my favorite car, so I'm reading 20 pages a night until I finish it.

    Awesome work.

    Jurgen:

You are correct. The Dino is Verde Germoglio # 20-G-465.

It is not a Dodge color, nor is it anywhere close to the aforementioned Fiat Verde Fluoro (code #326, which was a fluorescent yellow-green commonly referred to as 'giallo che da sul verde' used on pedestrian Fiat 500s). Several decades ago I owned a car in this color, Im embarrassed to say, and it had rust holes in the floorboards so I could see the road as I drove.

At any rate Verde Germoglio is what many simply refer to as Lime Green. Way cool on a Ferrari in my opinion. Id love to see a USA F40 photo-shopped in this color!

Wasn't there a Clint Eastwood movie where he remarked that the person who had painted their Lotus Espirit that color should have been shot?

On Chris Evans website, he says of his F40 that anytime he drives it, the car truly frightens him. He says "Death is never far away"...

    I agree.

Can't lay cursor on it, but I have a picture of an unrusted 850 that is quite close to V.germoglio. Guess oxidation on your rusty old car misrepresented the color. Also, Strati came in "Light Bright Green" which is very close to VG. The retro Stratos showcar was painted the same color.
BTW, your Dino Picture is heavily skewed to green. Targa top and gravel has green hue.I adjusted the gravel and road hue and it lightened up like the Vettroresina.

The bottom line is you were WRONG, as pointed out by enzo 360.

The Dino, whose color you couldn't find/didn't know, wasn't Verde Fluoro # 326, which isn't remotely close to Verde Germoglio 20-G-465.

Also, Verde Germoglio is NOT paler than original Lancia Stratos Verde # 2-465-070.

Now, its the middle of the day. I am 100% sure that your inane & meaningless ramblings on F-Chat are not appreciated by patients who are sitting there in the waiting room waiting for you to stop fighting with someone for no reason before they can receive your personal attention. Or do they expect to wait longer in Texas?

A meaningless post that shows and proves nothing, except that patients are sitting waiting even longer than usual.

    Get back to work!

Bottom line is you can't admit you were wrong. See large number of photos below.
Don't let evidence change your mind 00Joe.
Get back to work? WTF are you to tell me what to do, you pompous TOS breaking berk?
What am I to do, say "Yes'm sir"?
I've finished clinic and OR for the day.

360, thank you for helping me remember the color's name.

00Joe, thanks for reminding all of what a toolbag you are.
