Anyone know what's happening with prices being achieved with 360s now that the F430 is out? I've seen drive.com.au but it is hard to know what the real selling price is for these cars. I've listed my Gallardo for sale, but I figure the market is pretty busy with alternatives right now.

First post and we I'm already going off-topic, but I need to ask. :p

When do you take delivery of the '06? What colour is it, e-gear or manual, etc etc??

from what i've observed earlier models up to about '02 are moving for 240-260k (rough estimate) but later models are still over 300k while the 05 cars still seem to go for just under list price

    can anyone add or correct?

Haven't ordered anything yet. Depends whether I find a buyer on my own or trade it in. Right now I can get a dark grey or a silver Gallardo SE in '06 spec, but the other '06 cars aren't expected until Melbourne Motor Show time (March).

You can get an SE? I didn't realise they were available already and so easily, considering only 6-7 are coming to Australia from what I've read.

Anyway I think the dark grey SE's look sensational, any idea how much extra you pay for an SE over a 'normal' Gallardo?

If I had to pick between the two SE's I'd say the dark grey as it is a beautiful colour but I don't see the point of it on the SE because the two-tone effect is too subtle. Just my opinion. I haven't seen a silver SE yet to see what it looks like. I really like the white though. Give the interior something as well.

I would say wait for and 06 model and get the colour you want. If you can wait that long.
Do you want a subtle colour after having the yellow? Will you miss that 'out of this world' presence of a bright colour?

I think about $30K more. For that you get (going on memory here) sports suspension, alcantara steering wheel, rear camera, titanium Callisto wheels, slightly better trim, blacked out roof and engine cover, glass engine cover, smoked rear lights, sports exhaust......and the other '06 items (more power, faster steering rack, shorter gearing, etc). I'm sure I've left some things out. And they have only made 250 and won't be making any more.

Yeah, that's a factor. Sometimes more stealth would be good, but if they were all lined up together to choose from, I'd probably still go with a bright, high impact colour like pearl orange or pearl yellow (which is a bit different to mine). You've seen a few colours now on the road - what's your order of preference?

I read that the stuff on the SE will be standard on the 2006 range (bar the black roof). If so, why bother with an SE?
The changeover $$ must make the whole proposition questionable. As far as I can see, it's a mildly tweaked version of what you already own?

It's more than just the black roof, but apart from the sport suspension, most of the SE items are either cosmetic or orderable (at substantial cost admittedly) on the standard '06.

Apparently, the '06 is better (well, you'd expect that) but I'm still on the fence unless the deal is good. The 31,000km I'm showing (and a warranty that is about to expire) has got me thinking it is worth at least considering a new car though.

I'm not sure if that is what it is called, but owners of the SE say it is quieter at low revs and noisier above 4000km.

That should make it easier to get out at 6am on a Sunday! I love the grey colour in the pic too.

Assuming the SE is $30k more and your car has 31k on board, the changeover would have to be north of $100k. I can't see an expired warranty being a $100k issue. Even in Lambo land, $100k is one big out of warranty bang!

I understand what you are saying, but the changeover cost isn't without some benefits. It also gives me an '06 car which, apart from being brand new and driving better, is worth more than my '04 now and in the future. So I'm not writing off the changeover cost in one hit.

I'm not expecting a mechanical catastrophe when the warranty expires, but I know from experience that the value of my car falls in a private sale when there is no warranty remaining. It is more about trying to work out the timing of the changeover. But from a financial point of view I agree I am better off sitting tight.

If someone makes the point that keeping yourself in the latest exotic is a silly and expensive pastime, they are right. :)

It is true that the 06 will have the majority of the extras that the SE has but it would be nice to hold a car that is of limited addition. Especially here in Australia where we are probably only get 6-7 if that. Pity on the colours though.

Mhh- My personal preferences on colour.
    1. I do love the white (preferable flat over the new pearl) as you saw on LP the SE allan is looking at is beautiful.
    2. I would say the yellow is next. The pearl is beautiful but for the amount of driving you do you do risk having to respray the whole nose everytime as you can't touch it up.
    3. The blue is a beautiful colour (such as BMWRacers)

After this it all depends on your needs. Black is very menacing but hides all the lines. The burgundy (which I think may not be an option on 06, not sure) makes the car very elegant. Silver in my opinion is another colour that just looks 'nice' nothing special. Now the orange is an interesting one. I like the flat orange but not the pearl. It looks great but I wouldn't have it, just my taste. The new dark blue that was on the roadster at the Sydney motor show does nothing for the car.

I think if the SE is just $30k more then an 05 it is a bargain. First up the glass bonnet is a nearly $25k extra from what I've heard. So it means the other options are next too nothing.

Another question with the silver SE is there a large contrast in the interior. This is one of the maker/breaker parts of the SE. Whilst the yellow exterior looks good the interior looks comical. The white contrast is beautiful. And on the dark gray one there is hardly any contrast at all. Does the silver have brighter silver parts over the dark gray? That might look funny I think.

PS. Guess if you want subtle you won't be putting the new kit from the Essen motorshow on it? :D

I can't see why you wouldn't get a totally different car and experience something different. From where I am sitting, it's blowing big $ to get the same car again. Plenty of stuff to chose from at that price point. Even more if you consider 2nd hand stuff.

I wouldn't buy used, so what else at that price point?

F430 - nice, but can you even get one?

Aston Martin DB9 - more of a tourer with an automatic.

911 Turbo - new model still a year away.

    What have I forgotten?
