Hi guys im looking at buying a second hand LHS OEM 355 cat. the seller says the core is slightly loose in the can when it is shaken. The same is true on the RHS cat which is also for sale. No sign of damage to the core when looking inside from both ends. Cat has done about 8k miles. Still ok to buy?
If you read this post as "house cat" instead of "catalytic convertor" it's hilarious. If you are considering buying a house cat with a "loose core" I recommend taking it to the vet for a pre-purchase inspection. If you are looking at buying a catalytic convertor with a loose core, a quick google search seems to indicate that the problem may only get worse as pieces of the core continue to break off and clog it up. Based on that I'd steer clear unless somebody here knows that the 355 cat is supposed to be that way even when new...
