    The "real" Cal tried to sell me a brand new Ford pickup when I was stationed out there, WITHOUT a rear bumper. Said that was an "option" that I'd have to pay extra for. I told him to go rub his elephant.

    I grew up watching Cal Worthington commercials. That was pretty good but he forgot the dog Spot.

    My stepfather bought a Ford PU from the dealer in those days.

    The rear bumper was indeed Optional... and you had a choice:
    none, diamondplate, chrome, etc.

    Dodge was the same. No experience w/ Chev GMC

    FWIW.
