FGT prices are holding steady even though the new FGT is coming in 2017.
since they are making roughly 1200 compared to 4000 2005-06 FGT's, I believe there will be renewed interest in the 05-06 FGT. Also, with a $400k price tag on the new FGT, this will also bring up the price. Only time will tell.
They will. Look at GT3 RS 4.0 they have held their value just fine with the release of the 991 GT3 RS. These cars represent the last of an era.
I believe on these prices are going to stay up. It checks several boxes. One it looks classic, appeals to the collectors. It has performance, appeals to the collector who wants both classic looks and performance. It appeals to the enthusiasts, who when mixed with the collector keeps prices up. Lastly its American and appeals to the people who buy American solely on patriotism. Its one of the few American cars that is good!
My buddy just won a red FGT at Mecum - all 4 options, 2600 miles hammered at $270k. Awesome car!!!! Smells new! Sent from my 16M
Not only that, but how far off the mark that post was. These cars were special back in 2005-06 when they first came on the market and the market has proven that to this day.
He wasn't the only one. I remember the scud vs. GT threads. How the scud would only "increase in value while the GT would depreciate like a rock". LOL... I'd take Ford's "better idea" over a gussied up 360.
You can get a Heritage now with around 3500 miles for 380k. IMO prices of all these cars (including the non Heritage ones) will go up even more when the new one comes out. So the best time to get one is now.
Lots of people were wrong on what they'd be worth today, including me. The hilarity just comes from the fact so many were so dismissive of the GT because it was "just a Ford." Just a Ford indeed.
I think Ford hit it right on the mark with this car. I know the new car has a different emphasis placed on it, but I would take the older car any day over the new one.
This was the hammer, so Mecum charges 10% in addition. Then there is sales tax.... For auction however, I think he got a pretty good deal. The car was advertised at CNC for $319k previously........ It will be interesting to see what happens with the release of the new model. I saw it at Quail, and the design is breathtaking. The rep said they will make 250 yr (not sure how many years it will run production). He claimed there are 10,000 Ford dealers world wide lol - so allocations will be difficult. I've been keeping my eye on the FGT's and also Murcies...tough decision. But if you look at the trend of what happened to the CGT after the release of the 918, the 918 didn't hurt it one bit. In fact, the CGT has doubled in the past year. Perhaps this may extrapolate to the FGT's as well......crystal ball.... Sent from my 16M
A white and a red GT both hammered at $270k plus buyers premium over the weekend. One had 1,800 miles, and the other 2,500. That is right about where the pricing has been for the last few months, so I think a good buy for the purchasers. I think the new car, with so few getting built, will do nothing but stir up increased desire for the 2005-06 cars. Going to hand on to ours for a few more years at least.
LOL......don't know why this zombie thread was raised like Morbius but you have to chuckle at whackjob predictions like this.
