Interesting layouts. Looks pretty different than what we use on this side of the pond.

Brings up an interesting point, they probably just planned to use them at the Euro races anyway, which is why they were never brought over to the US

Are the trailers even USDOT approved? How would you register? Just curious

They would not be legal without extensive work. When I ran euro rigs we had them on a carnet de passage with a 12 month useage waiver.

looks like 91k people have viewed the eBay site - I would suspect that some series Euro team will purchase this - the Lista interiors are nice - too bad Freddy isn't running the Lista RS Spyder anymore...

    Really? I didn't know that.

I'm not arguing, but they're just trailers - What makes them so different to US rigs?

    Cheers,

here's a thought - the Euro ones are three axles and perhaps longer than 53' and they are driven with a flat front tractor whereas the cab-over in the US is pretty much obslete and maybe the hitch doesn't work for a Volvo/Freightliner/Western Star or similar???

    thanks for doing the photos!!

FYI, the big teams are using 55' trailers in the US now. And, triple axles have been around a long time in the US, too. Have to look at some of the other dimensions (height, width and weight), too, though.

The F1 guys have, practically, no limits, so they don't even make an effort to shoe-horn things into one or maybe two trailers as we do here. They bring 4 or 5 to a race, and they likely have another 2 out testing. I'll wager they even have others floating around just so they don't feel the "pinch" to re-stock the trailers and turn them for the next race. I've read they even re-painted them between races! It's good to spend other people's money!

I always thought "everything was bigger in the USA!" ;)

Seriously, I'd be really interested to know what "extensive work" would be required to make them US legal.

BTW, under two days left, and one is currently at ~31,000 UKP [~$48k] and the other ~24,000 UKP. Both have received over 50 bids..... It'll be interesting so see what they eventually sell for - Looks like someone's gonna get a helluva deal.....

    Cheers,

The other thing that surprised me with these is the speed at which they were seized "by order of the high court" - I thought the UK legal system sucked about as much as here and would take *years* to get stuff like this rolling. I'm obviously mistaken!

I guess peewee promised to pay for 'em and didn't - But then they'd still be owned by Ross? I wonder who's getting shafted here? The auction does note that they're not owned by Brawn....

    Cheers,
    Ian
