That is the tentative date, if you ordered tickets for 2006, you will hear from the Speedway in the next 2-3 weeks.

What did you find downtown? Seems like most of downtown is already booked.

And Im going!! Im so happy. I think finding a hotel will be hard, but I just want to see Schumacher, Im sure he'll stay on at least one more year...wont know for sure until September 10, but Im confident. Now does anyone know faster ways to get tickets...or will $105 by you a seat on the front straight?? Thats where I want to be. Does anyone also know where someone that has a basic $105 ticket can go for an autograph or meet the drivers..???

Called Embassy Suites but they had no rooms, so I sweet-talked the reservation girl (at the Indy ES, ALWAYS call the hotel direct!!) and she got me a suite at the Homewood Suites on Madison, 1/2 a block from Jillians, for 3 nights. They hit me hard, $750 for the stay, but like I said it'll be the last one so might as well stay downtown. And it is a 2 room suite with a kitchen. NO MORE crappy rooms for the race!! :D

FYI, the Holiday Inn on Beechgrove has rooms available. It's where I stayed this last race. It's right off 465 and just east of 65. It's 15 min to the track or less taking 65N to 30th ST to the back of the track. Not a bad hotel, being a Holiday Inn and all.

5 days, 10 hours, 26 minutes, and 30 seconds till I can renew my tickets. I'm a law student and therefore broke so I stayed in camping lot A and had an absolute blast this year. I was surrounded by very fun people which really made the experience all that much better. Odds are I'll be camping at the track again next year.

It was never stated that this will be the last year. The Speedway and F1 signed a one year contract extension. They could sign a new contract for 2008 and subsequent years in the next 12 months. Nothing is definite.

what is the fascination with staying downtown? we stay at the no tell motel on crawfordsville. it takes like two minutes to get to the track and the cost for the week is what downtown hotels charge a nite.

yea; but i was standing right behind you. the drive out from downtown was alot faster at nite, no traffic. the drive back from the track when i am really tired takes just a few minutes, one traffic light and a two stop signs and i'm in the pool.

Even when staying in the suburbs, I always drove to the airport and took the IndyGo buses to the track - no delay, 15 minute drive. From downtown, I just walk from my hotel to the IndyGo buses at the Convention center, I got back after the race in 15 minutes, took off for Ohio with no problem.

Besides, after watching Daniel and Rob, I had to down a few just to forget the image, so I would not have been able to safely drive.

Michael: I just want to protect the innocent!! Did not want to get you in trouble.

Yeah, I know. But I'm trying to be realistic. Bernie + Tony = 2 Type A SOB's prepping for a pi$$ing match of epic proportions, and I think this is just an extra year to get another venue up and running. It's a shame, because my wife and I really like going to Indy. I doubt I'll get caught up in the circus if it goes to Vegas or the Left coast.

    Dave
PS, you got a room at Homewood too?

Getting to the track is no bid deal. Getting out is a pain. Driving to the track is part of fun, flying flags honking to fans....

I've always stayed in the boonies for $60-$70 a night. But all the good restaurants/bars are downtown, and it's easier to get motivated after a full day at the track to just walk a block from the hotel instead of driving and trying to find a parking spot. ;)
