Houston GP fans, I'm considering going to the race this year, but I can't get my buddies or wife to go w/ me. Is anybody going to the USGP from Houston, that I may hang out w/ this year? My lodging is already taken care of, I just mean, at the track!! Thanks, Greg
there were a few people from the local FCA, but very small group. Decided not to go this year. FCA does a deal for the race, it is worth doing if you are going to go. You can hang with a big group. There is parking right across from the track and the seats are pretty good. have fun. This year has to be better than last.
Thanks Paul. Do you have to be member of the FCA to be part of that group at the track? Or, is it a package deal, purchased through FCA? I'm not a member--yet.... Greg 77 308
The FCA membership is only about $175.00/year.....not much compared to the cost of the trip....and you get the Newsletter and Prancing Horse mags... They (Indianapolis Speedway) have a REAL PR problem with the USGP race this year after last year's problems........stuff like that lasts a long time in the ol' memory... I'll bet you can just buy the ticket package from them. They invited the Ferrari Art Car out to the Houston races.....
For reference, though I had a GREAT time going to the race alone in 1999... Met some new friends but they were wives of the Mercedes team, I had to give 'em back..... *sigh*
Had not planned to go...I got so "deep" into the Ferrari pits and Challenge crews in 1999, I almost am reluctant to try to top the experience! I'm not working, currently, so I'd have to hitchhike or something.... Driving my cars with the kids in tow will probably be the next adventure.....THAT would be fun, but a 19 hour trip.....it's a long way, if you don't use one of those airplane thingies......... Now if Scott and I were "racing' against Valeria and Amanda, maybe we'd make better time!
Sorry to jump into your thread (I was born in Houston so I think that counts) but a large group of us are going from the DFW area, some driving & others flying. This will be my second GP race, first was Dallas back in 1984 & that was quite a mess. Try to make this one if you can because I'm not even sure if the FIA plans on extending USGP events after this year.
It was probbly better for my liver to stay alone in a seperate hotel. I met friends and club members at the track. We went to race, practice, out to dinner and had a great time, but I was there to watch the races everything else was just a great time. I would rather go alone that way I don't have to listen to someone else b!tching about it being hot, or being tired. Yes you have to be a club member to buy the package, but if you intendon joining, just go ahead and do it. It is not more money, the club just buys a block of tickets for club members and reserves a parking area. I parked my rental Malibu there last year.
OK, I bought my ticket! I'm sitting on the corner 10 terrace. I'll be there for the whole 3 days, staying w/ a friend in Noblesville, about 30 minutes north of the track. Anybody from Houston going? Greg
Did you check with FCA Greg? At least get some cell numbers so ya'll can hoist a few........ Don't ya be messing with them Mercedes gals! A 6' 2'' euro trash blonde with some piercings..that's her!
There will be 10-20 of us from DFW at the FerrariChat gathering Friday night. Another 10-20+ from elsewhere too.
