I am going to the USGP for the second times this year and I am interested in getting some pit passes. I have PMed a few people(thanks again for the help) and they said they can get pretty expensive. I also tried to find something about this on the Indy Motor Speedway site, but found nothing. Any help is appreciated/

    Thanks

Sorry, I didn't mean to put the thumbs-down on the subject. It's too late to edit now.

Try calling the IMS Ticket office. the no. should be on your paperwork somewhere. I called to get my tickets switched from the J satnd I had last year to the Start/Finish line. It resulted in a $40 refund check and the change to be on the front straight at the start/finish line from IMS. I still need to get the Fri./Sat. General and the Parking though. The $40 will help on that.

Are you trying to purchase pit passes for the whole weekend? If so, it will probably cost you a few thousand $$.

I think there are different passes available for different access. Some are just regular passes to give you access to the pits during pit walkabouts or pit passes that include hospitality in the Paddock Club.

I know the pits on Thursday mornings (only) are open to anyone with a weekend pass.

There are VIP passes issued my the FOM to all the teams for their VIP guests which gives you access everywhere. Inside the garages and access to the grid before the race.

I was a guest of McLaren back in 2001 and did the whole hospitality thing. They put me up at the Hyatt, went to the McLaren party at the Arts Garden and had dinner with Martin Whitmarsh and John Rutherford on Saturday for one of McLaren's partners.

Try GP tours. They might be able to get you the pit passes.

    Good luck!

Actual pit passes are usually limited to guests of the teams and the media. Especially for Saturday and Sunday, they are not something you can hope to buy. There is a pit walk on Thursday. That should be about it.

Thanks. It not that big of a deal, anyway. We are hoping to go to Monza or the Nurburgring (or even Monaco) next year, so then I will check what GP tours to offer. From what I have seen, they are pretty pricey, but are well worth it.

You can get hospitality tickets from Ferrrai at www.owners.ferrari.com or directly from the Speedway...both at a cost of ~$4k...I would recommend getting the tickets from Ferrari though as they include beingable to hang out with the team...have fun.

We've done quite a few European F1 events and do not use GP Tours or the like. We much prefer to do on our own and it's cheaper - it looks like the only thing we miss out on is the "driver" time at a fancy type dinner. There's a package plan available this year on the www.formula1.com website - still cheaper on your own in some cases.

The owner's site referenced in the prior post only works if you own a Ferrari.

You can contact Gerard Baar or Ann Ricards at Allsport Mgmt... he can set you up with what ever passes you like... but they are mucho expensive... $5k for the weekend... I cant publish the number here.. pvt me and I'll give you his contact info.

He can get you access to the Paddock club, paddock, pits ( cold ) etc...

Thanks, but $5k sounds a little steep. Maybe when I go to Monaco someday or something.

Really, though, unless you are a guest of somebody important to F1, the pitlane isn't what it used to be. My favorite memories of races in the 80s and early 90s were being able to stroll the lane, see all the cars sitting out in various stages of assembly and even the occasional driver or two hanging out. Now, it's just another extension of the dog and pony show that F1 has become. Every piece of equipment is closely hidden and drivers rarely, if ever, make it out into the public eye. If you're thinking about paying up for paddock access, save your money and put it towards a nicer room and/or dinners.

What pitlanes and paddocks USED to be like:
