I just downloaded a program called Roam Drive (www.roamdrive.com) that allows me to use the 2GB+ in my GMail (or MSN) Account as an online hard drive to store files and access them anywhere. I had never heard of this, but saw that there were many of these little programs that do the same thing.

My question is: does anybody have any experience with this, or use a different program they would like to recommend? Security Issues?

    Thanks!

BAD BAD BAD Idea. Email services are not going to protect your data.

My wife had 3 years of emails (including divorce agreements) in her
email box that we're important on many levels. One day *POOOFFF*
ALL her emails were gone. Its not like you can pickup the phone and
complain or even speak to anyone. ITS FREE EMAIL. Dont expect it
to be there when you get back.

Go with the USB key. If you use a Palm, there is a PalmDrive which
uses the memory in the palm as a USB key. Palm is even comming out
with a 6gb model, so look into that.

Also you can't upload files that are a certain size.
I'm not sure what Hotmails limit is, but Gmail has a 10mb limit.

im with gmail, but my school also provides me with email too, e.g. [email protected]
its good cos the government pays for it i think and it has more space then my gmail.. but yeh i dont rely on email inbox, use a flash drive.. or better still i keep a portable 80gb 2.5ich laptop hard drive with me, that works on any computer with usb 2!! it's awesome, so much space.. and very very reliable

What I like to do is upload anything important, or that I want to save onto my IPOD hard drive. It works just like a USB flash drive. The only down side is if you dont have USB 2.0 it tends to be a little slow, but still faster than burning a CD. Since i have a dell laptop it is especially important for me to back up things like my resume, pictures from travelling, important documents, and what not since the dell inspiron I have sucks (dont buy one, mine isnt even a year old and it already has to go in for warranty work on monday!). The chances of my laptop, ipod and desktop all breaking at the same time is slim.

Thanks on your input guys! I already have the USB drive thingie, but I figured this was an easy way to keep stuff online and access files in an emergency (ie, dont have the USB drive).
