First, as usual, forgive my X-posting with Tom's site. 'Bout ready to lay down the cam and chain covers on the GTC (gawd, I wish i was getting paid by the hour!) and was visiting with Chris C. (new friend with expertise I met at Tom's party!) who mentioned that some folks swear by the use of Gortex FT sealant tape. (I think someone ?? Jimmy M. had mentioned this years ago.) Anybody have experience with this instead of traditional gaskets + goo?
    thanx steve

They used to make Gortex tape in black for automotive use but must have discontinued it as I searched many times but couldn't find it. Still have several rolls in different thicknesses. Worked great.

well, I've chickend out....went with traditional gaskets. I was worried about the tape would make a 90° turn...a very vulnerable part of the covers for leaks. s

The older style tape I have would make that corner with no problems.
