Is anyone participating in this? My friends and I were at the track today for the opening activity...there were awesome cars. Our stradale and carrera gt, a number of ford gt's, a 427 cobra, F50, Enzo, 360s, the orange RUF r12 that has been in a couple of magazines (650 hp...awesome car), Z8, SLR Maclaren who knows what else will be there.

Tomorrow the group heads off on back roads to Torrey, UT and then to St. George...all with about 10 enthusiastic troopers guiding us...on the way back 17miles have been blocked off for open speed runs...where we'll get a ticket that goes to charity. It should be a great few days. Just wondering if anyone othe fchatters were coming.

The event is for the fallen heroes, Utah highway patrol charity which supports families of troopers killed in the line of duty.

i'll let you know how it goes.

Please take some pictures! I saw a little clip tonight on the news and it looked like a blast. I was shocked to see the F50. As far as I know, there is only 1 in Utah and that is in Logan. It's hard for me to see the driver in Logan participating in the event. He is a really private guy. Then again, it may have came from Colorado or somewhere else. And let me guess, the enzo had MM plates?

Yes if you could check on that F50 to see if it has UT plates I'd be interested to know if it is from here.

Since no one has given an update yet...i'll try and give some details.

We had a wonderful three day drive through beautiful country. The UHP escorted us and the trip was really without incident. We stopped at a number of small town where we had free car shows, some guys gave rides to the local kids and we donated money to the towns to fund memorials for "fallen heroes" officers who died protecting policing the highways. We also gave scholarships to each county where officers have died. These are intended to fund each families children so they can go to college.

Mr. Losee was there as usual, always generous with his time and money and he brought his father along...who is a great ferrari fan and had many amazing stories of ferraris in Utah and Reno/las vegas in the 60s and 70s.

The last day there was a 17 mile closed course where open speed runs were held. We would then donate the cost of a "ticket" when we were laser gunned after a five mile flat stretch near the end. In the miles before there were a few small rises and it was at the top of one of these that the accident happened.

IT appears that the car got some air under it and lifted, perhaps the wheel was turned slightly and he went into a slide when the car came down. The car went off the road after flying perhaps as far a 150 feet and spun/rolled a few times.

Fortunately Mr. Losee is doing well with minor injuries. He is in good spirits.

His parents came to the gala dinner that night and were very gracious and reported that Richard wants to be the first signed up for next year.

Overall it was a great event for a great cause and everyone enjoyed some of the best high, but safe and reasonable, speed travel we've ever experienced.

The F50, ruf rt12, lister Jag, original GT40, original 427 cobra, 289 cobra, carrera gt, gt3's, ford GTs, SLR maclaren and ruf boxter were all spectacular.

We're all saddened by the loss of MM Enzo...read this month's R&T article written by Mr. Losee...it says it all.

Dropped in at Steve Harris today... everyone there says things are good in the Losse camp. Luckily, only Richard was in the car at the time of the accident. Unfortunately, this accident will preclude him participating the NorthWest rally as he had anticipated.

But we are all glad to here that he is doing well and in good spirits.

One of the RUF Auto Centre partners had the RUF RT12 in attendance. During the final day's high speed run the RT12 was car #5 to run and posted a speed of 206MPH with room to go if the road had been a bit smooter !!! The RUF modified Boxster S was car #7 to run and stopped when he came up on the accident site.

Mr. Losee was the 6th car to run and had a very unfortunate ending. Thank God Mr. Losee is doing well and what a great spirit to want to be the first to sign up for next year's event!!

Some pictures that one of the RUF guy's took during the event are posted on his website:

Nice pics, it looks like each car was given a Fast Pass Utah license plate? Good idea. Good event, I hope they continue to do it every year, I can see this even getting bigger and bigger each year.

Each car was given a temporary tag to use during the event. It was an actual metal plate that each participant was allowed to keep.

Great photos. It looks alot like the area around Zion National Park IIRC. I drove there on the way back to Florida on a trip I took last summer to Vancouver. Glad to hear the Enzo driver is doing okay.
