I just posted this at FerrariChat, but it should be of interest to those who like to make Running with the Bulls speed runs as well: July 30 through August 2 Utah Fast Pass (Salt Lake City). Open to 50 super cars of yesterday and today, this inaugural event is being organized by Larry Miller (owner of the Utah Jazz and Utahs new Miller Motorsports Park race track) as a fun charity fundraiser. Each day the Utah Highway Patrol will guide the group on a spirited tour of some of Utahs most scenic and thrilling mountain highways. On the third day, the troopers will shut down a 13 mile section and let participants experience the appropriate potential of their cars. For added fun, participants may choose to run at top speed through a charity radar trap in which the drivers top speed is memorialized with a speeding ticket (suitable for framing) - but not memorialized on your driving record - for a tax-deductible donation to the earmarked charities (such as the Utah Highway Patrols Honoring Heroes Foundation, Special Olympics, etc.) for whatever the speeding ticket would have been at that speed. The high-speed fun continues that afternoon as the group takes to Miller Motorsports Park for hot laps. That evening, the cars will be on display on a closed off and secure block in downtown Salt Lake City so that the general public can see such a unique assembly of super cars while the participants celebrate 23 floors overhead at the Gala Ball and charity auction which caps off the event. Other notes: * Every community through which the Utah Fast Pass is scheduled to drive through or stop for lunch/dinner is very excited, so at each stop, there should be big and appreciative crowds. * If someone has a noteworthy supercar that is not registered for street use, the State of Utah is issuing special Utah Fast Pass temporary license plates to participants. The package price of $5,000 per car (two drivers can split cost by sharing a car) and a good portion being tax deductible and it is all inclusive: entry for one car, first-class hotel accommodations (double occupancy) and meals each day included the Gala Ball for both driver and co-driver. Immediately after the Utah Fast Pass, Miller Motorsports Park is hosting the Heros of Speed Historic Sports Car Race (HSR), and this provides a few options for the rest of us to enjoy: 1) Car Corals. The track will have car corals at both it's ALMS race on July 13-15 and the HSR race of August 3-5, so if any one who wants to organize road trip of friends to either race, there will be a central spots for like-minded enthusiasts to congregate, socialize and display their cars. I have also asked the track to consider letting members take to the track for parade laps during the lunch breaks. For the HSR race, all of the supercars that just finished the 3-day Utah Fast Past are being asked to display their cars at the track as well, so is should be a nice opportunity to see rare cars such as the Enzo, Mercedes/McLaren SLR, Pagoni Zonda, etc. 2) Utah Fast Pass Gala Ball. Enthusiasts can also attend the Utah Fast Pass Gala Ball the night before the race weekend begins (Aug 2), or just stop by downtown to see the cars on display. A city block in downtown Salt Lake City is being closed that night, so that all of the supercars will be on display in one spot while owners and enthusiasts celebrate 23 floors above at the Gala Ball and charity fundraiser.
