Searching for stuff on eBay, this article caught my eye. Anybody here knows something about this car? The fitted V12 engine came from a Daytona! Amazing!

Clearly from the photo, engine fitted is an earlier 330 or 365 2 cam. NOT a "Daytona" engine...AMAZING conversion nonetheless.

Looks like a nice fit, wonder why they never considered doing this at the factory.

Even if it all fit the less expensive models always have to be slower than the flag ships.

I think it looks pretty good too. In fact, that car is the first one I have ever seen changed on the inside that I actually like. Normally, I don't care for that sort of thing, personally.

I read that he actually wrote a book about how to do the conversion! Does anyone know how to get ahold of that material? Anybody here knows Mr. Goldsmith personally? Or has a copy of that book?

There are a few of these with different sorts of F-car 12 cylinders.

One has a Nigel Mansell affiliation. Story goes that his dealership installed it for a customer.

These are still being built in present day.

There is an very interesting one going on right now that I believe utilizes a heavily altered 400 block with Testarossa heads. It's been awhile since I've read about it but I believe those are the parts being used.

It still has yet to run, but the builder has been doing some gutsy, gutsy work.

I did some reading on these cars a while ago. If you search google for 308 V12 you will find a good amount of information. There is a lot of info on F Chat as well.

I do remember reading that someone had the book by Goldsmith.

It has a NACA duct like a 208.

Did he put that on or is this car in the link a different one - a converted 208 ?

    Fantastic, thank you.

That's not a Daytona engine as the article states. Looks like a 3.3L LM engine or something, definitely not a quad cam Daytona motor though.

Here a google translation of the Engine photo:

Engine overhaul: Goldsmith combined once a Daytona engine block with the cylinder heads of the 365 GT 2 +2, which was retained in the revision. The new headers are designed and manufactured in stainless steel, high performance ignition system szü comes from Crane, the distribution of the Lamborghini Countach.

Also heres a translation for the body work:

Extensive body work: The car was completely dismantled and removed the few rust damage. For the ventilation of the engine compartment, where the oil cooler sits, the side panels were NACA openings along the lines of the 208 Turbo. In the bulkhead to the engine two service valves have been provided.
