Is the V12 GTC4 Luzzo a limited production vehicle? A dealer told me there would only be the V8 turbo soon.

I was told that in North America the V12 last orders will be in March and last production will be in May. I was also told a 4 wheel drive V8 is currently under consideration.

If the rumors are true, I wonder what type of power they will put the V8 at. I cant imagine they would just keep it at 610HP. Or maybe they will keep 2 versions? One RWD, no rear wheel steering, 610 HP, and another one, AWD, with RWS and like 720 HP?

I don't understand the logic in doing so? Unless it comes as a reaction to new unexpected regulations

Maybe they want to save those V12 engine blocks to build extra 812 models...
Also V8 gas mileage would help CAFE standards for the USA market fuel consumption figures.

I would just reduce production drastically and make it very desirable rather than kill it.

In my view Ferrari needs a V12 in a big four seat coupe, I don't see how they can cancel it, unless something else is coming and will fill that void, which is something I heard but didn't get enough detail.

What if this has to do with emissions until they can get the V12 hybrid on-line? Perhaps they need to wait for the next generation.

Interesting. I have been thinking about upgrading my wife’s FF. I like the idea of a V8 as she doesn’t drive it super hard but i want the all wheel drive. What’s the cost difference bw the 8 and 12?

    8 and 12! :)
With some options in mind like pano roof, price gap disappears and one should choose 12 with no option than otherwise!

In some markets the price difference will be much bigger, because of exponential taxes based on engine displacement. In Europe, I think the Netherlands is one of them. Maybe also Sweden.

I am in the states so the difference isn’t that significant and agree on the options comment. I thought the gap would be larger.

    This year V12 to V8 production is 80/ 20%
Next year this will switch to 50/ 50.
The year after that 20/ 80.
Remember, the V12s are going away in their current state, so they have to use the platform for longer than 3 years, hence why the V8 was created.
I do love the sound of the V12 Lusso, but my god the V8 is playful!
It's barely slower than the V12 (except the top speed), and still sounds great. You do feel the weight difference.
Either way you cannot go wrong. In the south, we don't really need AWD.

I was lead to believe the V8 was put in the Lusso because a considerable percentage of the sales are in the Far East, Malaya, Singapore, Australia where import tax on anything over 4 litres is upto 300%.

When you open the hood of the v8 lusso it’s stupid looking in my opinion. Huge space with a tiny engine. I had about a 1 hour drive in the car. It was great, useable, fast, lots of torque. But the sound wasn’t there. The emotion was absent. I walked away loving my FF even more. Sad to see the v12’s going due to emissions etc. It’s unfortunately where the world is heading for car guys. In no time most of these cars will be electric and driving a gas Ferrari will be for amusement and entertainment.

Its sad but true...the V12 motor is going to be a thing of the past.

I understand the reasoning...the car drinks fuel like there's a whole in the gas tank. My car is new but it seems like I am filling up the car every 200 km. But, what a sound this motor makes when pushed!! I need to stop pushing!!

I get around 330 miles to a tank full when touring and around 250 in general use and obviously a lot less when tanking it but the same applies for the turbo when pushing on. Admittedly the Lusso t will return 22-24 mpg when touring but don't expect anymore than 15-18 when really on the gas. To my mind the Lusso is a V12 Grand Tourer with a mighty engine and glorious soundtrack that is worth every penny of the extra £700 or £800 of fuel I will use in a year. Plus of course the ability to rock upto Cortina in January without all the drama.

I am surprised Ferrari hasn't seized the opportunity to sell us extortionately priced optional leather luggage in the shape of 4 cylinders to fit into the hole!

You are assuming the 6.5L 812 uses the same block as the 6.3L Lusso. The 812 motor was touted as being 70% or 80% new. The stroke was different but don't think the block part numbers can be verified just yet.
