    is there a difference between a buyer of a V12 and V8?
(please note i am from the uk and we are taxed to death, so we can only have one or the other, not both at the same time)
    thanks

I'm not a Ferrari driver, but I assume that it's about the level of experience, and then the money that you are willing to spend.

BTW. What are the taxes in UK? (Compared to Denmark's 180% :S)

I'm not sure about the buyer, but the V12 is 50% more awesome than the V8. ;)

One is a smoother front mounted grand tourer, the other a mid-engined more sporty and youthful car, IMO.

However, when you apply a V-12 as a mid-engined sporty feel, you have a super car like the Enzo.

I love the v8's but always look upto to the testarossa, also remember that a v12 has for more cylinders to service so bills will be a lot higher than a v8, and no I don't cut hair! ;-)

I sort of wonder how many of you hairdressers that are posting in this thread actually own a Ferrari. ;)

    V12 - V8 = V4? ;)

Okay, seriously: My take on it: The 12c will be heavier and typically larger displacement. Gobs of torque for the wide open spaces.

The 8c will be smaller, lighter, and perhaps nimbler in tight quarters.

For freeway cruising or blazing around, say, an industrial park, the 12 will come into its own. On city streets, it will hate you. (And you'd hate the TR's big butt.) For city driving, the 8 will be easier to handle.

If tooling about the back roads (where Top Gear takes all their Jags), it would be close. The 12 would be a little hemmed in, so the 8 might be better there, depending on how badly you wanted to fracture the highway code. ;)

A turbo is for patient people. ;)

One of the interesting effects of this year's F1 formula is seeing how well the "restricted" V10s are doing against the V8s.

It'll never happen, but I'd like to see a mixed field of V12s, turbo-8s, V10s, etc. -- all with similar horses -- just to see how the different configurations compare.

(Hmm: Ferrari could probably find a 3 litre V12 around somewhere. :p Renault 144-deg V10, Toyota 72deg (truck) V10, BMW inline 6?, Honda L4 turbo?, cosworth V8, Mercedes ??, -- it would be an interesting field, no?)

12 cylinder is the big dog, 8 the little dog.

12s are perfect in all conditions. in town they are better since you always have power/torque instantly when you need it vs 8s needing to be on cam in high rpms, the same with the highway or back roads.
