    Hi,

At the end of May im staying in Lake Garda for one week. Has anyone visited the factory at Modena???? I was thinking of organising a day trip to the factory which may mean catching a train from Verona. Has anyone done this??? Can you please give me any advice.

    Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lake Garda is north of Modena and a day trip by car is easy. You mentioned train...so I am not real sure. There are some others that have posted directions by train. Perhaps someone will repost those directions.

Please note that the Ferrari Factory is NOT in Modena, but in Maranello.
The distance between Modena and Maranello is another 17 kIlometers.
I've been three times in Maranello now, but never did the trip by public transport, so on that matter I can't help.

Oh yes, I forgot another thing to say.
Don't expect to be invited IN the factory, normally you are even not allowed to take pictures of the cars exiting the factorygrounds to do their testruns.
But that is something most of us don't really care about and we take the pics.

At the same time in May is also the Mille Miglia so see if you can combine it. Maranello is possible in 1 day bbut there are also Ducati and Lamborghini and they are worth a visit also.

Train to Bologna is okay but from bologna you have to take a taxi or rent a car. The latter is cheaper.

    Enjoy your stay

I have taken a train from Bologna to Modena and then took a taxi from the train station. I don't remember how much the taxi fair was but I'm sure it was pretty high.

I've stayed near Lago di Garda many times. Be sure to visit Sirmione, the Roman-built city; its just off the Autostrada. You can take a leisurely boat cruise to the other side of the lake from there, or if you have time and a car, take the local road all the way around the lake. It will take the better part of a day, but its very picturesque, and each little town you encounter is better than the last.

Re: Maranello, you can catch a train from either Brescia or Verona to Modena, then cab it over to the factory. You must be an owner to get a tour; this has to be arranged through a dealer or FNA.

I agree with everything Len says. Sirmione is one of the most picturesque and beautiful places in Italy. I have stayed there twice at the Villa Cortine Palace and it is truely unique. Also, if you are in the neighborhood, Verona is not to be missed.
As for the factory, you will need to contact either your local Ferrari dealer or the Ferrari owners Site to arrange a tour.
