I have an '83 308 QV Euro that does not have a vacuum limiting valve and no evidence there ever was one- no ports on the throttle body or plenum.
However, it does have a charcoal cannister and no parts drawing I have seen shows these on that engine.

I occasionally smell fuel and not sure if the cannister is saturated or it the car should even have one.

BTW- it was a grey market car that had a Johnson box- disconnected when I got it.

I would appreciate any input or suggestions. Thanks

No, you have an '83 308 QV Euro that someone converted for US importation ;)

Even though the online 308QV euro SPC shows a VLV and the associated fittings, the figure in the 248/82 OM for the euro 308 QV does not (nor the fittings) -- page 66. Don't know if the VLV was a later addition to the euro 308 QV, but the way that the item numbers are (the VLV stuff being all grouped at the end) and the added view to show the VLV and fittings (whereas the large view does not show it) would make me guess that it was -- i.e., early and late euro 308 QV may be different in this regard.

The charcoal canister being added fits with US importation, but that doesn't mean it was done well/correctly.

    Thanks Steve,
Is there any reason to remove, not remove or replace the cannister? The fume smell may be coming from it or the actual fuel filler cap. The cap does not have a gasket and I am not sure if it should.
The car runs well but idles high- 2k. If I lower the idle it will stall, so there may be a vacuum leak in the cannister or tubing. Fuel pressures and WUR seem to be correct, and the Aux Air Valve seems to work.
