Well Massa was in the 248 F1 while Kimi was in the F2007.
Anyone know when Ferrari will have a F2007 for Massa ready?

Cars are three seconds slower than last year on that track. Is it because of the bridgestone's spec tire or are the teams being conservative?

I'm guessing it's because teams are being conservative. Why show all your cards 45+ days before the first Grand Prix?

    Agree 100%.

What bothers me is that the Scuderia lost valuable track time due to this stunt.

They've got set programs to get thru, and from what I understand they were unable to complete Luca's program, because he was stuck in the kitty litter.

    F-ing Alonso.

haha...it's just testing man. any team can be fast at tests, but not all teams/drivers can convert that to raceday pace.

I am sure the tires have a lot to do with it. With Bridgestone supplying everybody, there is no need for them to develop the types of tires they had to when competing with Michelin.

116 laps and second fastest time - not bad.

Ferrari never really went well on this track (whereas McLaren always did). It's not really fast enough to judge the aero (Ferrari's forte), so second is not bad considering the fuss the English press is making about Ferrari's longer wheelbase this year (not necessarily good for tight, twisty tracks)

Next week at Jerez (2 F2007 available) should be better. Let's hope the weather allows them to get a lot of laps in.

Interesting comment about the longer wheelbase F2007. IIRC the F2002 and the F2004 cars are both considered great race cars had the shorter wheelbase. The F2003-GA considered a dog of a car, yet still won a championship (barely), has the longer wheelbase. Why change to something that was proven not to work out that well?

i think it's a bit too early to jump into conclusions. at that time the team had 2 diff drivers, wheareas, now it's another 2 diff drivers.

maybe, they found a new idea to make things work out with the new rear end, and new suspension setup. however, donn't forget the 248 F1 also nearly won a championship, yet the F2007 is already quicker than the 248 on it's debut, taking into account the new harder compound tyres.

Definitely correct about it being too early for conclusions so I hope whatever it is they have in mind brings them success this year. I just find it interesting that all the teams except Ferrari have gone to a 'short' wheelbase (not that it means anything, maybe they do have something figured out;)).
