I just bought a new V1. I get a lot of false alarms in the "All-Bogeys" mode. My question is: Has anyone tried the "Logic" and "Advanced-Logic" modes and which mode do you prefer?

Believe the Advanced is what is used here (L). One thing NOT in my manuals is the way to customize the V1. Trust me, you want to do this and customize the alerts as needed for your area. It greatly reduces hearing 'falses' once you get it set right.

I use the "all bogeys" mode on the highway and the full logic mode around town. I concur that customization for your particular application will help reduce the falses. (Some folks have NO revenue enhancement officers using X-band in their area...disabling that altogether is an option for them.)

mine is set on advanced (L) and I still get plenty of falsing. I still swear by the thing.

Offtopic.. sometimes I get a (J) display on my bogey counter, but the manual makes no reference to this. Does anyone know what the (J) means???

"J" means Junk. The manual says to ignore it because it is not radar.

Another vote for full logic mode ("L") here. A nice side benefit is that in L mode there is absolutely NO radar between my home and workplace, so any time the detector picks up a sniff I pay attention.

I bought a V1 because I didn't want to have to be constantly second-guessing my detector, and so far I have not been disappointed.

I usually buy another when they upgrade, sell old one, as it was cheaper than upgrade. Last time, I sent the two oldest of 5 in for upgrade, one was not working as well as it should. That was an excellent choice too, as they renumbered the units, refreshed them, and it was pretty cheap.
Never can go wrong with V1, L mode is used when in town, but if on scantly used back roads or hiway, I usually use A mode for earliest warnings.
Some falsing, my LS430 cruise sets my own V1 off, so I turned laser off on it.
The programming page is great, print it out, check it occasionally as they revise it periodically.
I've had V1's for years, had Escorts(Mike's old co) for years, my first one had 3 digit SN, and had cord hardwired into back of unit.
Mount the V1 as high as possible for those pesky over the hill hits.
DO NOT let your wife turn down volume. I got 1st ticket in years in Superamerica because my wife turned the volume down, not mute. At 120+ top down, I was focked. CCB got it down to 97 in 65 though ;) Carbon-ceramic is good.

use the custom programming. turn off x-band and turn k-band to quiet until it hits 4 bars. life will be much better. you can also set it to little "L" as it will have no difference in how it works (custom mode irrespective of A, L, l) and it will be fewer lights on.
