I'm not surprised by the comments about Ferrari's in LA. Interesting cliche's being tossed around here.

Confessions of a Parking Valet - What Valets Really Think of Your Shiny Car - Popular Mechanics

"Ferrari guys are the only ones who say, 'Why did you put my car in the back?'" says top valet Bruno at West Hollywood's Ink restaurant. "Always Ferrari owners are cautious and overprotective—they ask me for their car to be in front. Ferraris are a dime a dozen here."

However, Bruno adds that special models, such as the Enzos and F40s he has parked, do qualify as crowd-drawing exotics and usually get the front spot, regardless of the owner's demeanor that day.

Interesting that the article baselines many of the "other drivers" against the "ferrari guy".

    Thanks for sharing.

The one thing I have to tell the Valet is: "When you bring my car back please turn off the engine. Otherwise the electronic parking brake wont engage and the car might roll"

This actually happened to me after dinner, the pavement was sloped and the valet just got out of the car and I saw the car start to roll and managed to jump in. Fortunately my date was already in her seat.

Pro tip: Don't ever give your car to a valet. If you want your car out front, park it yourself and hold on to the keys. ;)

So what I got out of the article:
    1) If you live in NY, LA, or Miami your car is as common as a Kia. For the rest of us.. we are the only Ferrari in the lot.
    2) There are Valets with PhD's. They weren't able to land a real job with that PhD, so now they're a valet. Their opinion according to other valets who don't even have PhD's.. is supposed to matter.
    3) The Valet seems to think that I would want my car in front so it can be seen and displayed. He seems to be oblivious to the reason that I want it up front is to see it, to make sure he doesn't F$%k it up.
    4) Valets have opinions about all sorts of cars they park and their owners.

Since I would NEVER trust a valet with the keys to my Ferrari.. I could care less what their opinion is. My old boss used to be a Valet in high school. He was far less critical of the people he parked cars of and now he is one. Sorry article was OK. Could have been much funnier.

Forget that they have no idea how to drive a Ferrari, if you ever saw the criminal records many of these guys have you would think the service was being run by the Federal Bureau of Prisons.

If you do leave it with a valet, be sure no valuables (or even non-valuables, they'll steal anything, and I mean anything) are left in the car, and remove any papers that identify you, your address, your employer, or anyone you know.
